This "eldritch monster" you talking about has created humanity out of itself. She's not albino, her hair is blue. She's expendable, that's why she's so withdrawn. She showed emotions, probably would have showed more but shit's got insane. She's not as obviously suicidal as Asuka or Kaworu. Shinji was afraid of her because he knew something is wrong with her soul.
