It’s definitely unfairly maligned, though understandably so because it’s not as emotionally accessible as his other work. Besides my thematic love for it, be sure to pay attention to how tightly John constructed the instrumentals - almost trap-like in function - and just how damn sonically enjoyable of an album it is. Decide Decide is like shoegaze synth pop.

Shit man, I always got this vibe especially in 'Songs' (like 'forever and ever and ever') but it's quite clearer here. The synths don't come out as well through that lo-fi production when John makes a more dreamier sound

possible, but it's a very different album. shoegaze elements, but for the most part it's noisy neurotic pop. still would recommend giving it a try, one of the most emotionally intense albums I've heard
