Genuinely curious, how is pop country still such a big thing? It’s been like 15+years now. Are they waiting for a particular demographic to die or what?

Unironically conservative households
I have no idea but I don't know how people eat that shit up man. Even the most double digit IQ southern product of incest has to get that they're listening to mass-produced, lowest common denominator garbage that exists to generate revenue
it's for people who don't care about shit like that, they just want comfy bangers for blasting in their truck
Retarded teenage girls like it because of the chivalrous but tough cowboy fantasy and that is really the only demographic you need. Others will always follow.
Rural America has tasteless normies too
It's "country" music for people who don't like country music. It's just the standard electropop, with clap beats and synths, except with a slight twang in the voice.
Girls love it.
And moms who are driving their kids to soccer practice.
Because in culture anything that takes place not immediately located around coastal major cities tends to stick around for a decade or so longer than it does in New York/SF. I mean kids in Utah are still hitting mallgoth stereotypes and listening to 21 pilots like it’s 2010
>Genuinely curious, how is pop country still such a big thing?
People who still buy cds at walmart buy pop country
Its the only genre that can still sell physical copies of its stuff
White people in the middle of the country who don't like rap because it's degenerate and think rock and roll is devil music for school shooters and Satanists.
Top 40 country is very popular where I live, I'm not joking.
Tbf pop country isnt any worse than pop
>15+ years
Try 50+. Johnny Cash was pop country, Dolly Parton was pop country. Country has assimilated pop music trends since it started because country itself is an assimilation of different styles.
It's far better than pop, as far as generic by the numbers music goes. At least pop country features real singers and people who can play guitar, and isn't all about pushing fetish sex and homosexuality on a fanbase that includes 12 year old girls.
Country was the pop trend before rock.
Hell Johnny Cash was the #1 artist in the world in 1969, the era that most ppl think of woodstock hippes and the beatles
Which is especially ironic given that modern country talks about THE exact same things that rap does, just repackaged. Karens are essentially white niggers
>Which is especially ironic given that modern country talks about THE exact same things that rap does, just repackaged
Does it? I can't remember the last country song I heard glorifying gun violence, abuse of women, or pill addictions.
Since the 70s, Nashville has been the place where LA producers go whenever their pop genre dries up.
You can track the spound of pop country over the last 40 years, its always about 10 years behind the sound of pop genres.
After hair metal scene dried up all those producers started makinh country albums. Now you are starting to see old 90s rap producers starting to make country albums.
Hence the term repackaged. Instead of talking about bitches, drugs, and whips, it's country girls, alcohol, and trucks.
The same can be said for the bullshit that comes out of ALL pop music.
Drones enjoying mass produced jingles isnt special or unique to country.
-Nikki Minaj/cardi b poorly singing about their disease infested twats
-J Cole/drake/kanye rehashing the same exact rap verse every song.
Just as dogshit as any pop country.
High school baseball players
I'd just say it's especially potent in country right now. The sheer lack of creativity is just downright shameless. At least some of the songs that come on a pop station will be uniquely or interestingly bad from time to time, but with country there is /nothing/ that deviates from the norm whatsoever
Literally nobody in the top 10 billboard pop right now has any musical talent outside of possibly lady gaga.
>Cardi B
This is your savior of credible musicianship? Try harder.
Meanwhile the pop country top 10 has Chris Stapleton, who is superior to the pop top 10 in literally every way.
Because people still like it and buy it. There's nothing hugely wrong with it. It's mostly just simple pop rock songs with an accent and maybe a fiddle thrown in there.
The lyrics are fucking stupid and it all sounds the same, but that's pop music for you
>Instead of talking about bitches, drugs, and whips, it's country girls, alcohol, and trucks.
>rap talks about degrading women
>country talks about heartbreak or being in love
>rap promotes drug addiction as a positive and cool thing to get into
>country talks about the trouble and sorrow alcoholism most commonly causes
>rap promotes materialism in the form of luxury cars to a demographic of people who can't afford it, creating an unhealthy obsession and dependence on perceived importance of money above all else
>country talks about liking your shitty pick up truck because it's what you have and depend on
Yeah, totally the same thing!
Why does everyone who structures their arguments like this always craft these vast setups that nobody actually says or believes? Who the fuck ever said anything even close to that about Cardi fucking B? Have you been living under a rock?
I think we're referring to two very different types of country. You have apparently been oblivious to the whole honky tonk country phenomenon that entirely invalidates every single comparison you just made
What else can you compare pop country with besides literal pop music?
Yeh pop country isnt that good and its just a big algorithm to streamline profits.
Pop music isnt any better.
Cardi B is at the top of pop music right now, some fag is at the top of the country charts. Both are shit.
At least the #1 country guy is playing his own instrument
Well making that argument is fine, I have no issue with your comparison there, but in your first post you made her out to be some fucking musical jesus or some extreme shit that nobody would say or has ever said ever
My mom blasts this music all the time, it’s music she loves to “jam” out too and dance like a drunk wine aunt
Op specifically says "pop country"
Which im assuming he means the shit thats literally a science project with exact formulas for bpm and chord progressions to maximize profits.
