Something like this or a bit more funky?

A ton of blaxploitation soundtracks. Try Marvin Gaye's Trouble Man, he only sings on one song.

I'm not liking this one as much as the OP.
Thanks.

Why people always underrate my man RJ? dude was one of the best

KC and the Sunshine Band is also pretty underrated. Personally I like Mayfield the most because his voice is damn smooth and fits the slower music in his song perfectly, but I still like and liste to artists and bands such as RJ, James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Kool and the Gang etc.

Tales From the Tour Bus made me gove Rick a chance and im glad it did.

Hot damn, Street Songs is an incredible album. I think Rick's only problem is that Prince came along.

Phish's '97 funk grooves > everything

ok but respect to james brown and betty davis of course

We may have found literally the worst opinion of all tiem

Make my funk the P-funk

Would it be fair to call Dr. Dre the most important post-80's funk musician?

Isn't dr. Dre's music more about rap than funk? Ofc there are funk influences but I wouldn't call it funk music.

Curtis is the GOAT, his 60s soul stuff with the Impressions is good too

Also this might be a blasphemous opinion but I kinda like the Massive Attack version of that song better

Yea but the point is that for all intents and purposes funk ran its course by the 90's and Dre innovated by releasing the Chronic and mutated it into something new.

Check out lack of afro

Well I think funk has sadly kinda died. I mean you still have old school guys but not that many new musicians who produce that classic funk music anymore.
