I don’t see what’s wrong with it. She’s not saying all men are trash, she’s just talking about scumbags who are men, and who take advantage of women.
Songs like Boys will Be Boys, Old Man, Tricks, etc., are just talking about specific bad traits of specific dudes.

Can anyone explain the album cover? I have a really hard time even turning this on because I see such contrivance in the album art. Does it mean anything?

Nah I don’t really think it holds any meaning. The music sounds decent enough though, I’d still check it out

I listened to julia jacklin before this and it was so boring, the lyrics were as generic as you can get, I feared this album would follow the same path, glad it didn't

I'm pretty sure it's a soap bar. It kind of reminds me of these sort of vintage commercials. I like it.

That's still a leap. The thing she's doing has no correlation to the soap boar or to where she's looking or what the album is called. It's the equivalent of random humor. Lobster tails in goo!

If you're not a fan of Jacklin but like Donnelly then you should check out Alex Lahey.
Similar sensibilities of songwriting, but much more energetic and poppy with bombastic instrumentation, even bringing in horns on her new single.

It's not bad, but between this Snail Mail and Car Seat Headrest I feel like the trend is just rehashing the 90's with no real changes or updates.

The tittle track is amazing but imo the tiny desk video of her is better than the album since the instrumentation on the album doesn't bring that much to the table so only her with a guitar is more powerful

CSH adds his/their own spin on that sound with much more expansive song structures.
I feel like both CSH and Stella are good songwriters, even if Stella’s sound is just well executed but familiar.
Snail Mail doesn’t really have much going for them in any regard, and are perfectly average
