good.

Anybody buy tapes?

Have you ever banged one of those punk-haircut smelly bitches who work there in the employee bathroom? I know they are down for it, but were you brave enough to ask?

Do you let black people shop there?

Have you ever played Dry the Rain and how many people laughed at you

OP is a faggot who can't deliver even simple answers. DELETE THREAD

How many times have you seen Empire Records?

god that show was so fucking painfully jewish

You still here, OP?

I work at a record store as well, and my co-workers and I have been thinking about starting a closed Facebook group for record store employees only.
Would you be interested in joining something like that, or should we not even bother?

what percentage of your customers are insufferable faggots

I'm not OP, but I work at a record store too. Most of them are really cool people, but every now and then we get obnoxious fantano/putchfork Yea Forums drones in real life, and they're the most insufferable faggots on the planet. I always make a point to passive-aggressively let them know that they don't know anything about music. They're like 5% of our customers though. Most of our customers are either really chill down-to-earth 20-something year olds (usually musicians or artists) and old boomers.

What do they do? Flaunt their taste, try to look cool, just buy Yea Forumscore albums? All of the above?

I worked in one early to mid 90's AMA instead!

What's the main age group in there now?

All of the above, while quoting (sometimes literally QUOTING) Anthony Fantano reviews or common Yea Forums memes, and they do it all with a pretentious "I'm so patrician. Look how much I know about music. My favorite band is Death Grips, but you've probably never heard of them" attitude. Like, dude. Stop being an elitist about popular music. I work at a fucking record store. You don't need to "educate" me on Radiohead or Swans. Every entry-level hipster on the planet has heard of them. They're not exactly underground lmao

Both of you answer this

I just realized that if Tommy's grandparents were real they've probably been dead for over a decade now

It's all ages, but its mainly 16-25 and 40-60. If I had to pick two major age groups, I would say its mostly teens/college kids and literal boomers.

Has anyone ever unironically walked in and asked for a copy of Loveless?

Sadly no, I was the beach bum smelly bitch. I really did go without deodorant and always smell like a mix of nag champa and BO. Good times though.

I'm this guy:
I'm an assistant manager and I'm in charge of buying used music too. What are some of the most ridiculous questions you've had customers ask you about used music? Some of my favorites include:
>"I have a copy of the white album. I saw one on ebay go for $10,000. Would you guys be interested?"
>(over the phone) "I have a bunch of used records I found in my grandad's attic after his house flooded. They're really old, so I bet they're worth a lot. How much could you give me for them?"
And my absolute favorite
>"How much do you pay for records?"

Fairly often. Its an incredibly popular album, and I wish My Bloody Valentine would repress it and actually keep it in print this time. We don't have any copies in stock and we've probably lost hundreds of sales on it because its always out of print.

Do any of the other record store employees ITT, especially the ones who buy music, also take pictures of extreme vinyl gore? Sometimes I see something so bad that I have to take a picture of it.

What are your best selling albums?

I'd still bang you so loud the nerdboy shoppers would hear, what a shame

Fuck off, retard.

How many times has someone bought In the Aeroplane Over the Sea? How do you react?

I point at them and laugh while calling them a fag. Lmao!

Very often, and I don't react any kind of way. I react to it like I'm selling any other popular record, and sometimes think "Huh, I wonder if that person posts on Yea Forums" but that's it.

I heard of Neutral Milk Hotel way before I heard of Yea Forums. Great album regardless desu. I had heard it mentioned in podcasts and shit like that but never gave a fuck. Not gonna lie Fantano's review turned me on to it(he name drops Yea Forums in that review), but Fantano has shown me so much shit that been just terrible.

Also I need to pick that up on Vinyl. Probably going to be my first in store purchase.

one copy of slanted and enchanted on vinyl please

Looking back it's cringe-worthy at how jewed it was.

Do you ever talk to people about what they're buying? I'd actually really enjoy it if someone at a shop asked me about my purchase/haul but nobody has ever said anything. I buy obscure electronic music mostly though.

Haha that's actually pretty lame man. Can't say I respect you at all.

I do it all the time. I love talking to customers and finding out what people like.

What a hapless sycophant, Mr. Tig Notaro.

How do the ones who buy prog and krautrock look like?

wtf grampa has gotten thick
