It is but it's incredibly well produced for what it is

>dude DRUGS lmao
>dude HOOKERS lmao
>dude BONDAGE lmao
It’s the original edge-core.

The music is great though.

Underrated desu

Overrated is a totally meaningless word

Trips of truth.
I think that was the appeal though because not many others were doing songs like that. Not seriously, anyway.

I don't think it's overrated at all. I think it's just where it should be. If they had a better female singer than Nico things might have toppled one way or the other, who knows, for better or for worse for the overall gestalt. She's just as bad as Lou Reed so I think that part fits...

Pleb: filtered.

I say that as a person who experiences IHHCMN and sister ray in ways absolutely unthinkable for a regular human being, compared to them european is absolutely worthless and the worst thing they have recorded until that tranwreck of an album that loaded is happened by far
tl;dr drop trip and log off, your opinions don't matter

Disregard my last post, I suck cocks

>hates on Nico
Based
>hates on Lou Reed
Pleb filtered

you would be a fucking fascinating person to have a conversation with. its almost impossible to believe that someone who would say something like this isnt just adopting a persona or playing a character honestly.

Cannot sing, the music is bland, and only hyped because they were from New York and not ruffians from Liverpool.

B8
Based, Moe Tucker was a better singer than Nico, After Hours + I’m Sticking with you >>>>> I’ll be your mirror + All Tomorrow’s Parties + Femme Fatale

it is but it's still p good

Your taste sucks

There was no such thing as edginess in the way you’re trying to boil TVU’s lyrical content down to. Also calling this album overrated is probably the ultimate cliched “babbys first stab at contrarianism”

literally the boomer version of Nirvana

it is. indeed

People call it "experimental rock" but all I hear is very bland, very normal, normal rock. The Beatles were even more "experimental" in that time frame.

Anyone knows what's the "definitive" version, mono or stereo?

no u

People who hate Nico are niggers therefore shouldn't be taken seriously.

Ever hear Revolver? Sgt. Pepper? Magical Mystery Tour? I struggle to hear any elements of experimentation on TVU&N, it just sounds like bad drugged up simplistic pop rock to me.

OP here
I just listened to the album and it's actually good, not overrated at all

People tend to parrot the opinions of people who thought something was really strong when it came out, and ignore the fact that time even degrades media and outside of the context that it was created in, it doesn't have the same ability to move people

Time has done the opposite on that album. It sold badly and the critics didn’t like it. Now I think it’s platinum and critics think it’s among the GOATs.

Nico and her records are fantastic. And she has a wonderful, Teutonic voice that strikes past the urban degeneracy of the VU.

which is why you should never critics seriously

I feel like it's an important album, but mainly because of who was directly influenced by them, not because of the music.

like, the music is fine, but it's not like life changing, especially when compared to what came almost immediately afterwards

>babby’s first stab at contrarianism
\thread

Especially live, Moe was a better singer. Also, not hating on Lou Reed, he just couldn't sing for shit. But he could talk his way through a song while playing in a way that I could never do because of the rhythms...

Venus In Furs is cool. Marble Index is the true overrated Velvets related work

white light white heat is so so much better
TVU&N is alright. The Nico songs are pretty bad but the rest of the album is solid.

Ha ha ha! No. Velvets didn't sell many records. Nirvana sold out completely as fast as possible. Velvets had original songs. Nirvana just ripped off the Pixies.

I remember hearing sells like Teen Spirit on the radio when it first came out and thought, "Oh the new Pixies is finally out." I was anticipating Trompe le Monde.

>The Monks
>Red Krayola
>The Seeds
>The Sonics
>Terry Riley
>White Noise
>Silver Apples

Wait, so how are VU relevant again?

Because I've only heard them and none of those ones in the green texts?

tvu was influential, thats why they matter

They inspired alot of terrible bands
But again i guess that was th point of tvu to sound terrible

So were all of those artists, quite emphatically, and they're "relevant" too. So that post is nonsense.

TVU is relevant because they made amazing music. You won't take that away from us. Fuck off.

it's really not. Run Run Run and European Son are absolutely beyond patrician, the peak of rock at that time. And that's saying nothing of the WLWH songs, though the recent memes surrounding Sister Ray and how good pseuds have begun to think it is are pretty distressing because it's exactly as good as they all say it is and as exactly as good as we all think it is and they know it.

No shit that's the entire point you fucking retard, it was the first noteable album that was about these taboo things and inspired rock and roll for decades to come.
How can you be this dense without being a black hole
