Yes.
Pretty amazing when it experiments.
Top notch instrumentals
Dog shit vocals
Absolutely retarded lyrics not that you could hear them anyways because of the dog shit vocals that sound like cookie monster with downs syndrome
that's pretty cool. I've been looking for some aggressive music for my workouts.
some of it is good, mostly the early stuff.
actually good.
what would you consider good?
depends what youre looking for in your music. i appreciate speed and technicality and cohesion between band members and i get all that in death metal in ways most other styles are unable to achieve. also im able to look past the imagery and realize its 99% either satire or cathartic, and those that buy into it 100% are straight cringe
this is dogshit
the music i like
Listen to Death. They are actually pretty great
No, that'd be Caninus. Hard to believe the vocalist is female. Too bad she's a total bitch.
>Too bad she's a total bitch.
cringe
however, i miss trevor's fun side projects. but, wasn't there a similar band that had a bird of some sort for the "vocalist"
This
great genre, cannibal corpse are a terrible example of what it has to offer
this is my favorite death metal album of all time. every song is good.
Their vocalist sounds like a dyke though
chuck's voice early on was very powerful
just listened to some of it, pretty interesting.
Posting some top tier death metal. I have no fucking idea how one would introduce someone to the genre but there's some really great songwriting in it regardless
those are some gnarly cover artworks, they make me want to listen to the albums !
is this a tourist thread of how to into meal?
>Tomb of the Mutilated
I'll never understand why this album gets praised. It's objectively terrible. "The Bleeding" is far and away their best album, and required listening for genre tourists.
Only on the last album, really.
Slam is better
Only on the last album
I'd agree The Bleeding is probably their best, but ToTM is not terrible by any stretch of the imagination. Hammer Smashed Face, I Cum Blood, and Split Wide Open are awesome songs.
If you’re going to make that argument at least post a band that’s not a steaming pile of hot garbage.
slam is the gimmicky inbred spawn of brutal death and deathcore
>Hammer Smashed Face, I Cum Blood, and Split Wide Open are awesome songs.
Ah, fuck, you got me there.
Death is thrash metal, not death metal
lol how is Leprosy not death metal?
It's not shit

Death literally pioneered the genre along with Possessed. This is like saying that Mayhem isn't black metal
I love death metal, but I recommend easing into it and putting off Cannibal Corpse until you really understand the genre, despite the fact that they're so popular.
I hate to say it, but melodeath really is a good place to start. Hypocrisy, At the Gates, and Dark Tranquillity all had some pretty strong material. The semi-mainstream band Behemoth is another good starting place. After you listen to that stuff, which is pretty accessible if you're at all into metal or punk, then I recommend the early Florida bands. They were very imaginative, creative, virtuosic, and sometimes almost gothic. Death is actually a fairly accessible band, especially their debut Scream Bloody Gore. Obituary is another great, solid band, and they're kind of just the fun, hard rocking band of the Florida scene, almost like a death metal AC/DC or something. Cause of Death is one of the greatest death metal albums ever made. Morbid Angel is weirder, so they can be fun, plus they might be the most important death metal band ever. Deicide get a little shafted, but they're interesting because they sound so modern even though they were so early. The proto-death thrash of Possessed is also good for this era.
After all that, for me, since I grew up on punk, the deathgrind bands like later Napalm Death were a great place to get more into the genre, as well as stuff like Carcass, Regurgitate, and Rotten Sound. It's like hardcore, crust, and death metal rolled into one. Along those lines, there are some crust bands that straddle the death metal line, like Martyrdöd.
Here's where I recommend getting into New York death. They're interesting especially in light of the NYHC scene of bands like Cro-Mags and later Bad Brains, which they were influenced by. Suffocation is probably the best band to start with because you can really sink your teeth into their percussiveness. Then Cannibal Corpse.
This is sacrilege, but for getting into slam, there are some good slam/deathcore/djent bands that are a lot of fun
...and are just pure guitar wankery. Aside from that, obviously the classics like Devourment.
Mayhem isn't black metal
>start with Morbid Angel and Carcass
fucking based, enough said
