I haven't heard the album, OP's description of it made it seem like an experimental album to me.

And that's exactly why that doesn't help at all is because it is with that knowledge as a starting point that I asked the question so I obviously wanted a more comprehensive answer than that.

But its not a piece of literature though its an album and he reviewed it as an album just as he has with every other thing he's reviewed on his channel. Vocal experimentation would still fall under the music being experimental and there is nothing experimental about the vocals at any point, its all been done before.

As a pretty big Koz fan of both his old and current phases, to be honest, Common As Light ranks pretty low for me. It might be one of, if not my least favourite of his albums. It has a fair share of moments, but the bass/synth thing going on just doesn't do it for me, and the payoff hardly feels worth the runtime. Prefer both This Is My Dinner and IAWTDINO. So yeah, I don't get what Fantano saw in it either.

Anyway, why is this shit so underappreciated? It has the sweet nylon guitar of Admiral with the humor of his more recent albums and some of his best tracks like Young Love, Among The Leaves, Sunshine in Chicago, Red Poison, Elaine, and Black Kite
