Great taste. ATMP is a masterpiece but I slightly prefer Plastic Ono Band.
na, cloud nine is
he's the only one who didn't hit women
*blocks your path and then rams you head on*
Better a wifebeater than the ultimate cuck
>Legendary rock muse Pattie Boyd, who inspired Eric Clapton “Layla” and “Wonderful Tonight,” and, reputedly, George Harrison’s “Something,” is coming out with an autobiography, Wonderful Today, and doing interviews on her relationships with two of rock’s leading men. The juicy details:
>In 1970 Boyd was married to Harrison but became involved with Eric Clapton after hearing “Layla.” “We met secretly at a flat in South Kensington. Eric had asked me to come because he wanted me to listen to a new number he had written,” Boyd recalled. “He switched on the tape machine, turned up the volume and played me the most powerful, moving song I had ever heard. It was ‘Layla.'”
>Later that same night Boyd was caught out in the garden of manager Robert Stigwood’s house. “[Harrison] kept asking, ‘Where’s Pattie? But no one seemed to know. He was about to leave when he spotted me in the garden with Eric,” Boyd said. “George came over and demanded, ‘What’s going on?’ To my horror, Eric said, ‘I have to tell you, man, that I’m in love with your wife.’ I wanted to die. George was furious. He turned to me and said: ‘Well, are you going with him or coming with me?'” She went home with Harrison.
>Clapton once showed up drunk at Harrison’s home and engaged the Beatles’ guitarist in a rock duel. “George handed him a guitar and an amp — as an 18th-century gentleman might have handed his rival a sword — and for two hours, without a word, they dueled,” Boyd recalled. “At the end, nothing was said but the general feeling was that Eric had won. He hadn’t allowed himself to get riled or go in for instrumental gymnastics as George had. Even when he was drunk, his guitar-playing was unbeatable.”
didn't this record invent shoegaze or something
Damn I would've been pissed if I bought this back in 1970. Should have been a double album at most.
POB is the superior solo album, and one of the greatest albums of all time.
A lot of people call george a 1 album wonder, but I think those people only listened to the one album. all his 70s albums are top notch.
R A M

George didn't have based linda
33 and 1/3 is pretty cool
The album he did just before dying (well technically it came out after he died) is also among his best. Genuinely great album
this
not even a top 3 paul album
1. MTV Unplugged
2. McCartney II
3. Band on the Run
It really isn't. It's good, but it's not as good as All Things Must Pass.
Also good, but still nowhere near as good as All Things.
This. Paul is a fucking melodic genius
That last one just sounds ridiculous. I'm gonna have to look into that. I find it hard to believe George would have actually thought he could beat Clapton in a fucking "guitar duel". Serious or not.
They all did great stuff right out of the gate. But pot-1975 there's not much to really talk about with any of them. I think working together was a huge key to their greatness. That, and competing with each other. When they were in the same group there was obviously tons of competing. And then immediately post-breakup there was even more reason for each of them to try their best to out-do the others. But that didn't last long sadly. They all had some hits and a fair amount of success and then got comfortable with where they were in life.
Personally, I do think ATMP is the best, but all three of them had great stuff early on. I would say Paul released the largest amount of vital material in the long run though.
Literally top 100 of all time.
I still think they had juice (as a group) to go till at least 1985 putting out classic stuff. I mean, just in terms of the stuff they wrote but never released/recorded themselves, this stuff is fucking brilliant.
en.wikipedia.org
Then if you add up all their good-but-not-quite-as-good solo stuff, but throw out the bad and patchwork the good, you've got several more excellent albums. I know they called it quits in 1970 because they hated each other and wanted to be alone by that point, but fuck me what a tragedy. They had SO much juice left, which is impossible to imagine after putting out, what, 6 straight 10/10 albums over a few years? God I wish I was alive during the Beatles era. We'll never see such creative energy again
addendum: That bootleg isn't even close to the amount of material they didn't release by the way. You've got this
en.wikipedia.org
Then you've got the John Lennon Anthology/home demos. Then you've got all the unreleased George stuff, which won't be in that article but you can find a chunk of it in this bootleg
discogs.com
It's fucking SICKENING how much juice these 3 people had. Yes, 3. Ringo, you don't count as a person. Sorry mate.
MOTHEEEEEEEEEEEEER YOU HAAAD MEEEE BUT I NEVER HAD YOUUUUUU
what is good about all things must pass
>I WAAAAS THE WALRUS
>BUT NOOOooow... i'm john
>AND SOO, DEAR FRIENDS
>YOU JUST HAVE TOOOooo... carry on
>the DREEEAM IS OVEEEER...
Pure soul and spirituality. It's a love album, and a nostalgia album. The songs are more beautiful melodically and instrumentally than any of Paul or John's solo music. George is also a better singer, and fuck anyone who disagrees with that.
It's magnificent. It's the soundtrack to a first kiss, a first breakup, a first wedding, a first funeral. It makes you laugh, it makes you, it makes you wonder why. It's pure poignant power.
And he plucks the geetar real nice n shiet.
>George is also a better singer, and fuck anyone who disagrees with that.
Technically Paul is the best singer. I'm tempted to say Paul is the best singer in rock and roll, period. His range is unmatched.
BUT, George sings with emotion that the other Beatles don't. George's voice makes me FEEL, man.
>Surprised that men struck their wives in the 1960s
That's more like it. Paul is a "better" singer, but George is real. Paul is just going through the motions of being a rock star. George never had such desires. He was a mystic, seeking the absolute in song form.
John's voice is the most irresistible of all time, user.
>BUT, George sings with emotion that the other Beatles don't. George's voice makes me FEEL, man.
John's doesn't? what the fuck user where's your heart
John's great, don't get me wrong, and he makes me feel too, but George makes me FEEL, man... I can't quantify it. George does things to my heart that no other singer does.
it's so good. plastic ono band is also great
It's only a triple album? And the third LP is basically just fun throwaway stuff. it's literally called apple scuffs.
I disagree. Something about George's voice swinging in with
>Sunriiiise doesn't last
>All mooooorniiiing
Hits me harder than any of John's "emotional" singing. It's pretty, it's raw, but it's not connected to the godhead. He's just singing about his therapy and politics and Yoko.
It's called the Apple Jam. Apple Scruffs is a song on the main body of the album, and it's one of the best ones.
horrible production
oh wow an echo fucking great
it's not that bad but Martin would've been a lot better
Not even Spector's bombastic crap can taint songwriting as good as what's found here.
In any case, everyone should listen to this because it's fucking incredible to hear those songs stripped down to their barest essentials.
>Ringo, you don't count as a person. Sorry mate.
Fucking idiot. Just because he wasn't a songwriter doesn't mean he wasn't important to the band.
>Just because he wasn't a songwriter
Well then it's a good thing I'm talking about songwriters, ya daft cunt!
You kidding? That shit sounds GREAT in stereo. Honestly, shitting on Spector is full retard, and I never use the r-slur.
This is my favorite song Beatles gave away. So catchy.
That's a great one. Here are a couple of my favorites

This one in particular I wish they'd have kept and put on With the Beatles.

>MTV Unplugged
Based, the version of Here, There, and Everywhere on there is better than the Revolver version
>Paul is just going through the motions of being a rock star
What the fuck does this even mean?
And I Love Her, and She's a Woman are also better than their Beatle versions
>McCartney II better than Ram
I think GH wins by not throwing kids out the window. Also better guitarist.
Harrison also wins because he married with a maxican lady way hotter than Boyd who could get pregnant.
I agree bu
I play guitar better than Clapton.
Also, Boyd was infertile, thus, worthless.
Plays big dumb shows, writes dumb rock music for grannies.
I think you're right. Paul alone had plenty of hits into the 80s, and like I said, I think if they stayed together their creativity and competitive nature would have stayed stronger for a longer period of time. Plus, I like to think John would have had more hits in him had he lived a bit longer.
what's wrong with grannies?
I sort of agree with this. But George wasn't putting out any masterpieces later into his career. They all kind of fell into making pretty generic "adult" rock music when they got older. Closest they came was McCartney with Chaos and Creation but that was largely due to Nigel Godrich's guidance as producer.
Later in his career he was a little busy with cancer and stuff. But I think releases like All Things Must Pass, Living in the Material World, George Harrison, Thirty Three & 1/3 and Cloud Nine really make up for any lame stuff.
All Things Must Pass [Apple, 1970]
As a slave of the very "MAYA" (pidgin Hindi for the concrete world) Harrison warns against, I am obliged to point out that playing headsie with the Universal Mind is not introspection and that the International Pop Music Community is not a group. Presumably, the featurelessness of these three discs--right down to the anonymity of the multitracked vocals--reflects Harrison's notion of Truth, and he's welcome to it. But he's never been good for more than two songs per album, and after "My Sweet Lord" I start to get stuck. C
Christgau has always had trash opinions about music with good production values made by white people.
I summarize it as Christgay has always had trash opinions.
if only hadn't turn into a Harry Krishna weirdo
I'm not talking about when he had cancer specifically. I don't really think anything he did after the 70s is particularly great. There's some solid/enjoyable material sure, but nothing close to his first two solo albums or Beatles work.
Seriously? This is Christgau talking? George releases his fucking epic masterwork and all he can come up with is the lame "two songs per album" joke? Weak. Granted this was at the start of his career so it probably wouldn't have been cool to acclaim a Beatles solo album.
.
all of you are fucking plebs
youtube.com
I still prefer his work with JL tho
Awful production that actively ruins the songs (George’s voice is completely drowned out in the chorus of What Is Life)
Also a lot of them go on for too long. Isn’t It A Pity didn’t need to be 7 minutes, it just gets to the point where it feels very self-pleasuring.
Still a good record but Imagine is probably my favourite Beatles solo album
I think it goes beyond that, user. I think the point of the mix was to decentralize the lyrical and vocal aspects and focus more on the music.
I am the beatleshater that shits up beatlesthreads and I came here to agree with OP
George Harrison was the only truly great Beatle as well as a wonderful person ,unlike Lennon and Paul who had delusions of grendeur or were in it only for the money, and unlike Ringo who ultimately was just a lucky average joe,George was passionate in a very sincere and wonderful way, which can be easily felt in everything he´s in
Its sincere
george threads are so enlightened. truly the goat beatle
Yeah it sure is great I love having to skip well over half the album to get to anything good because it's mostly trash
Best "solo" record is Wings.
sounds like you need a

Moonberry Moon Delight is catchy as fuck
