If you're looking for something small and just an MP3 player try the Sansa player. It's a small clip on with expandable storage. They are 60 dollars I think depending on the version

if you'd prefer not to be a pleb, there are decent flac players like the sony nw-a45 going for around $250. great DAC, decent interface. 16gb internal memory but it supports a 256gb microsd card. all in all, it should cost you no more than $350. that's excluding headphones. if you really wanna take advantage of a high quality music player like this you're gonna need some decent cans, and they're gonna need to be wired.
you have a lot of options. IEMs are lightweight and have great passive isolation, but your ears will hurt after a while. on-ears are more comfortable, but little to no isolation. or you could just use over-ear studio headphones which have the best of everything, but you'll look like a twat if you step outside the house. then again, if you don't give a shit what randos think and don't mind getting weird looks, you've got top-notch sound, comfort, and isolation 24/7. audio quality with regards to any headphone is dependent on brand and model. shure, sennheiser, beyerdynamic, and grado are decent brands
or you could skip all that and join the iphone and airpods NPC revolution

this is the third one i've gotten it's a 6th gen first rev 80 gb, i have a 6th gen 2nd rev 120 gb and a 5th gen 30 gb
there was an 80 gb 5th gen in really good condition at the dirt mall but i had already bougt this one, i hope it's still there this coming sunday so i can nab it
