Which classic siouxsie album is the most solid overall? I've played the singles comp to death but the only album of hers that's really stuck with me is Tinderbox

I think a lot of people agree. Siouxsie & The Banshees are one of my top 5 favorite bands. Cocteau Twins are great, but I feel like they lack the depth, and romanticism, and darkness of The Banshees. They're not as artsy either.

Maybe this is the thread to ask but what was gothic about Siouxsie and the Banshees? Most of the songs I have listened to are very catchy and upbeat. It’s not a bad thing, I like it. But I like it in the way I enjoy pop music for its catchy parts rather than say...how cold Joy Division sounds or how Bauhaus has the dark industrial bits in their sounds or how The Cure’s/Sisters Alf Mercy’s got songs about alcoholism/addiction. So not very depressing/hopeless like that other goth stuff.

Its mostly because of Juju. That album has some pretty dark sounding songs, and her lyrical themes on that album deal a lot with witchcraft, possession, death, and the occult. Also, her image.
