Composing music for a video game is a distinct kind of craft compared to composing music for its own sake and there's nothing wrong with appreciating it for its own artistic merits. It's very, very difficult to write a song that you can listen to on loop for half an hour without it grating on your ears.
It's extremely pretentious to consider it non-music just because it was made to complement another piece of art as if the musicians that write it aren't real musicians.
