This album tells me that there must be a real extreme difference in perceptions of how music sounds between people. To me, there was absolutely nothing to get. Armed with the context that there was an idea related to Anne Frank contained on the album, I jumped right in. It was genius the second I heard it. Singularly original and melodically and tonally brilliant. How did you perceive it when you first heard it?

My uncle lived in my house when I was younger, and he'd play it all of the time, so I view it as a childhood record. I love it, and it's gorgeous, but it's just that.

I get this. My older brother and my dad were big green day fans around the time when American Idiot came out. I first heard it when I was six, and the concept didn't click with me until I heard it again at 18. Complete nostalgia record, but it's smarter than I gave it credit for. Can't say it aged well though.
