Scott Walker was literally shit as a musician. First he made the most generic bland baroque pop I’ve ever listened to, like a bad impression of Frank Sinatra or something. Then he went “experimental” later in life but completely failed to produce anything relevant or truly interesting, resorting to weird shit for the sake of being weird. May the man rest in peace, but the lack of interest in his death isn’t because people are “plebs” (he was a pop star for most of his career and released a bunch of corny commercial records) but because none of his music stood the test of time.

his music stands on its own and you're just a bit simple if you think the late period trilogy are "weird for the sake of being weird", but as a person the fact that he went from being a manufactured pop star to making avant garde songs about disassociation is precisely why he's interesting, not an argument against him
the lyrics on scott 4 are funny and insightful on their face, but on Bish Bosch he's playing with the words as much as he is the sounds - they don't have "content", they're almost purposefully anti-content, like Zercon is a series of insults so silly they should be funny, but backed by industrial drones to remove the humour, and The Day the Conducator Died is a quiz you can't answer being related to a firing squad. it's properly experimental in that it's genuinely testing the form, not "experimental" as in fitting in a prescribed genre box like death grips or whatever this board likes
