Hmm i think basically all the original punk accomplished something new throgh incompetence. Most of them didnt knew how to play an instrument or sing, but wanted to make rock songs, so playing fast, simple and catchy was the best option.

OK, I'd say this is closer to the mark. Again it's a tough call because it kind of requires us to guess that the final product is not what the artist was shooting for. How do we know the artist isn't as self aware
