Have you even heard the intro to Close to the edge?
> Close to the edge
Okay, listened long time ago, you r right. Vocal songs are brilliant, but to many clear instrumental
Listen to Tormato
Ok thx
now this is my kind of thread
what does Yea Forums think of Leprous? I've been listening to this album as well as Coal non-stop and it has become one of my favourite bands
any similar ones?
Anyone seeing Krim's 50th anniversary shows? Any hopes on the setlist? Wishing for some improvs this time around
They just kind of sound like a prog-metal version of Muse to me. Actually, I went back to those old Muse albums after listening to these Leprous ones, and they totally kick more ass than I remember, so that's really not a slight at all. Seriously, Origin of Symmetry is totally great.
interesting, should probably get into Muse more then
But Coal doesn't sound like Muse at all Contaminate Me is a masterpiece.
Bilateral is their masterpiece, The Congregation is still good but kind of monotone
Too metal, true prog from 1966 to 1979
everyone who's into prog already knows the classics, it's with discussions of this kind that you can find new sounds to be enamored by
it is monotone but a good "sad-prog-metal" album
It was so long ago that many bands are not obvious, I have been listening for many years, but I always find more.
What's some good new prog that isn't metal?
I saw them last year and they were terrific. A few improvs and I think they improv in the songs but it's mostly setlist driven, not half an hour of raw improvising like their older shows. It's a fantastic show, mostly 70's-focused but not only. Pat Mastelotto gave me his drumstick at the end.
The Tea Club is quite good. youtube.com
I've also lately been really enjoying Perfect Beings

yeah its pretty great. The Camera Eye and Red Barchetta is classic Rush at their best
those are 2 of 3 songs they play on FM radio
broaden your horizons if youre curious about them and really like those songs.
You might be more into The Yes Album if you dont like the drawn out instrumental sections
