everything is fine except the singing, lyrics and maybe the vocal melody. Try slowing down the bpm and double tracking soft vocals, right now the vocals sound like a weak moz impersonator with meh lyrics. The song ascending part is really nice I would push that guitar stuff to the front of the mix over the vox

Im not a musician but my bf is. I see him throw away songs he's made only to come back a few months later and completely do a different vocal melody for it which surprised me, since he doesn't do that with any other parts of a song

Nope. I write the drums in Guitar Pro with the rest of the song like this, then I import them into Ableton as midi and add Ezdrummer2 to it.
