Hello Yea Forums. I want to get into metal, or at least try, but I dunno where to even begin.
What do you think a metal newfag like me would enjoy?

curious, why exactly?
It's a huge diverse genre that I know little about, and I don't wanna keep missing out.
Thanks for the album br0
Just go straight to stalaggh bruv
Depends on what you like already. There are many different entry points to metal. What are you into?
Start with Ghost - Meliora
OK. here is a few more that I think are good
Megadeth

Judas Priest

Kittie

High On Fire - Blessed Black Wings
Yeah that's fair. I guess all I can really say is I like things that are a bit more melodic rather than just a wall of sound, and I'm also just not a fan of those gurgly monster vocals a lot of people do. I'm not completely closed off to that though, I'll give it a shot
Mastodon
Iron Maiden
Slayer
Death
>not a fan of those gurgly monster vocals
OK, so you might not like the Kittie...
definitely listen to Crack the Skye. It's easy to get into, but has a lot more going on when you look closer
Start with The Gerogerigegege (the rock 'n roll stuff), then listen to anything else that is metal, and you will probably prefer that.

bathory
I'll second this
Read the history of the genre on Wikipedia and its influences and divergences over time. That'll put it all in context. Listen to bands chronologically like that.
black sabbath by black sabbath
Who does that? lol
Maybe try this:

It's cheesy but a good cheesiness.
Judas Priest for heavy metal
Plini for prog metal
Baroness for fun metal
Listen to Deafheaven to get into wall of sound type stuff
Listen to every Death album in order
Go listen to rust in piece
I think you're going to like the classics; Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Metallica, Megadeth. As an entry point to extreme metal I'd recommend In Flames, Burzum and Gojira. I don't think you should listen to full albums of extreme metal. Just find singular songs you like to build up your tolerance.
