I use the phone app

is Yea Forums the poorest board on this whole site?

What does this have to do with money? It's all about workflow and features.

t. 20-something yr old zoomer who spent $$$ on a drum pad after watching 4 fruity loops tutorials on YouTube and now makes """chillwave lofi trap beats""" in his parents' basement

expensive gear won't make you creative.

No but it is in figurative 2019

>workflow
hardware gives best workflow.
nope, i hate n********r music

There’s a 90% chance It’ll sit at the back of your desk collecting dust. Everyone I’ve seen who’s owned one or similar play it for a bit then scrap it, thinking one day they’ll utilize it

Share one of your songs ITT and I'll tell u if it's worth it

Because this is the real issue here

Just look at fruity loops youtubers with their acoustically-treated studios and expensive monitors and best headphones and synths decorating the walls — and they will never make it because they lack imagination

this

share your music user

otherwise there's no way to tell if getting one could help u

don't be a little bitch

It might be, or it might not. It depends. The two questions I always ask myself before any speculative purchase:

Do I *really* need this?
and
Will I *really* use this?

If no to either, then it's a pass.

>expensive gear
an MPC1000 does not cost more than a laptop

This is the stupidest thing I've ever heard

This is wrong and is what leads to so many failed purchases

The question you should ask yourself isn't
"Do I really need this" or "Will I really use this"

Because anyone can convince themselves over time that they *really* need something, in the end "needing" something becomes indecipherable from "wanting" something
— eventually people end up thinking they "need" something without knowing what for

**THEREFORE**
The 2 questions you should ask yourself are
"What specifically do I want to use this for?"
And then — "Do I need this thing in order to perform this action?"

You need to be specific about your goals — why do you need this thing? What purpose will this thing serve? If you have a clear defined purpose in mind, is this the most affordable and achievable way to accomplish this goal?

no but this shit is absolutely obsolete. if i had all the money to buy all synths in the world i still wouldnt buy this. absolutely useless.

not sure why this would matter but okay

I never considered these difficulties but I agree that people are very prone to self-deception and aimlessness, so yours is a helpful correction.

you dont need an mpc for that. i made this song based almost entirely from samples (mainly old jazz songs) on the computer:

its way more comfy and gives you way more control over what youre doing. mpc is probably fun to play around with, but even then i would rather recommend you to buy a midi controller like a lunchpad for example.

*lAunchpad i meant. sth like this:
