This is so underrated. This is the album that made early Sepultura click for me. I always liked the later groove/nu era Sepultura, but I had trouble getting comfortable with their early stuff. Then I heard this, and it's like a perfect combination of the Sepultura sound with Celtic Frost. But, it takes an almost punk, militant, no-nonsense approach to extreme metal. A hidden contender for one of the greatest extreme metal albums ever made.

Both. It's one of the most interesting, and maybe THE most interesting, form of metal music, with how weird and creative the sound has gotten. It can be muddy and sludgy, transcendent and atmospheric, dark and brutal... sometimes all at the same time. But the culture associated with it is hilariously fucking ridiculous.
