Listened to Kassav'- Passeport just now Didn't strike me as particularly amazing, had some fun rhythmic stuff going on the drummer in me quite enjoyed. Fun call and response vocals. Eh. World music is always partially fun just due to the novelty of the form which this album definitely satisfied. Otherwise I didn't quite connect to it like I have to other afrocuban/latin/carribbean music like (for me) cumbia, which I actually go out of my way to listen to and sometimes am very in the mood for, or Fela Kuti who I return to like 4 or 5 times a year since I discovered him. Fun thread, OP. Rolling again.
Okay, I'm not listening to a whole album of this right now, but got Richard Devine and listening to Untitled 3. I've never heard of flashcore, this is actually really awesome. These are some really interesting and creative sounds but put together in a way that still makes sense in a traditionally musically way. I'll definitely be revisiting this and other IDM + I want to make my own now. Damn this track just gets comfier as it goes on, thank you mu
so this thread gave me Sun Ra - Jazz in Silhouette and really liking it so far. I've heard sun ra before but never this album as a whole, but since Ive never ventured into Jazz much farther than like MIles Davis or Coltrane i'm glad i got this
