kamasi washington a 5? y-y-yikes
studio version of long season is better baka

Attached: file.png (591x364, 72K)

I was gonna shit on you for calling out Kamasi but that *shels album is a VERY close 5 for me, good on you. I really want a vinyl copy

maybe if it didnt have a 5 minute toilet drip interlude in the middle of the song

Here’s my full 5’s, posting a random page for the lazy boys
Still fine as usual. Deathconsciousness really is a fantastic album
Fucking based Live Love poster. GOAT mixtape imo
Every single pick here is fantastic other than the Epic. Shit album pandering to non jazz fans with technical prowess despite a complete lack of band chemistry and songwriting ability

based

I hate looking at my 5s, very generic list, only because I rate whole discographies, so if I were to rate a couple more I would add In A Silent Way, London Calling, Siamese Dream, Mellon Collie, The Doors, and Illinois

forgot to add the image lol

Attached: shit_taste.png (626x816, 150K)

I am a jazz fan tho, I really like the vocals and just think it sounds nice

Based movie picks

I’m sorry but White album is not a fucking 5. It is chock full of filler and shitty Little Richard ripoffs that are totally uninteresting
I’m not trying to shit on you man like whatever you want. But I can’t say I see the appeal. I don’t really think it sounds good desu
CCBB and Sound of Music are the GOAT musicals 100%

FMJ is my favorite Kubrick followed by 2001, then the Shining. How come 2001 isn't a 5?

That movie was fantastic, but I haven’t watched it since making an RYM account. And I don’t remember all that well so I want to rewatch before rating it, and to be honest I very rarely watch any movies these days

I like your profile

Cringe
Based Black Parade poster. I fucking love that album and I didn’t even listen through the whole thing until I was 20. You also got the two best PF records right. This is based

I love how one of the only non Yea Forums-core albums you have on your list is a shitty pop punk record. I like to think you put them on your list just to look cool.

>not liking TBP

Cringe and bluepilled

Name a single record that sounds like that blend of post-hardcore, emo, rock opera and pop punk

>tripfag is an aspie
Throwing those genres together in such a clearly clunky and haphazard fashion isn't something to take pride in.

>listen to more music
>over half of his top 5s are all surface level artists in each respective genre (boris, brian eno, coil, nico, LRD, swans, talk talk, time machines, tvu)
>literally only 900 ratings
amazing. you are a fascinatingly stupid individual

hows middle school?

Shit you were right, that is basic.
Your problem seems to be that you only listen to acclaimed artists and you dig entire their entire body of work, so yeah, eventually a critically acclaimed artist will dish out an album you consider a 5. They're critically acclaimed for a reason. Dive into genres rather than artists, and you'll uncover music below the surface.

>michel polnareff
Based as fuck. The rest is pretty good; we have 2 5*s in common, and I used to have ITAOTS at 5* as well.

Go back to R*ddit and/or listen to more music. Jesus.

Attached: IMG_6375.jpg (658x621, 96K)

>all of them are tourist albums
This is the least nuanced bait I've ever seen.

>tourist albums
Uh lol, literally 0 albums on my pic related is well known by the mainstream.

>listen to more music
>5s contain ten (10!) surface level artists out of 11
Would you fucking niggers stop doing this? Holy shit.

>surface level artists
Only Bowie, retard.

>black sabbath, gybe, joy division, king crimson, mr bungle, and yes aren't surface level
I found your account and you literally only have 400 ratings. That speaks for itself. Nice bait, shitskin.

>lol you don't have 100000 ratings xP
Nice argument.

>listen to more music
>literally has only listened to 400 albums
Nigger I don't give a shit if you've only heard four albums, a Beatles song, and the latest memerap hit. Just don't be a condescending retard and say "you don't listen to enough music" if there's an 85% chance that the people you're responding to have rated more than you.

Epic. It's just easier for you to accept and go listen to more music.

Devo is so cool
Charlie Brown Christmas is great every December
t. DeBatata. Good to see you finally de-5'd that other Tangerine Tree album that was nowhere near as good.
Time Machines, can't go wrong there.
Laughing Stock is great and so is Deathconsciousness. Interesting take on the best swans album. I prefer The Pod to The Mollusk.
Lotta classical in here I don't recognise, but I see Haydn and I think you've got the Beethoven violin concerto? Look like great picks to me. Based Fahey pick. Based Loveless and Astral weeks.
You're pretty rymcore with the Part and Le Rallizes denudes. Actually pretty good though, I like both of those albums and all the other ones you have.
Good picks all round, Robbie Basho is great as is DJ Screw. Slint is cool.
I don't recognise anything here except This Heat. I might listen to some of these.
Pretty Yea Forumscore and Kanye West isn't my thing. Neutral Milk Hotel will always be great.
Debut > Post.
Hi Wujtah, pretty good picks especially that Miles Davis album which I like a lot.
Ys > Have One On Me
Neu > Neu 75
Nice Pink Floyd choice.

>rateyourmusic.com/collection/brenovult/r5.0
>those autistic rating systems
LOL

>i-i listen to lots of stuff i just don't digest it, reflect upon it, measure its qualities, consider its historical impact, or emotionally connect with it enough that i can so much as click a fucking button on an internet website that says "I listened to this and it left something resembling an impression on me"
This is actually worse than just not bothering to listen to a lot of music. Just letting it go in one ear and out the other is the most vapidly anti-intellectual thing I can fathom. Just give up nigga, you don't like music as much as you think you do any nobody is falling for your pseud bullshit

I () didn't see this one. I don't like that Orbital album as much as you. Julia Holter is great, same with Starsailor. Selected Ambient II is definitely the best thing Aphex Twin did though.

>I think you've got the Beethoven violin concerto?
Yes! Not my favorite violin concerto piece (I prefer Max Bruch's No. 1 and Tchaikovsky's Op. 35), but I love so much this piece.
I really, really like your choices here. Will definitely check it out some albums. Mind posting your account?

Nice damage control, retard.

rateyourmusic.com/~schtraw
Thanks! That violin concerto in my 5s is Allan Pettersson's, its unbelievable. I don't even know if I've heard Tchaikovsky's, but I love his first Piano Concerto so I will check it out today.

>natural snow buildings - the dance of the moon and the sun
why is this so looong
it sounds good but man when will i ever dig into the whole thing lmao
thank u boss, funny to see Protest the hero here

>classicalposters being nice

>they cant be perfect albums because they're not obscure
>surface level = not good
>only 900 ratings

absolutely disgusting

>bitch about people having surface level taste and not listening to enough music
>have surface level taste and don't listen to enough music
You're the same as that other retard I exposed, I don't give a flying fuck how many albums you've listened to or what albums you think are perfect 10s, just don't be a condescending nigger unless you can get away with it. Protip, you can get away with it when your 5s aren't literally all in the top 20 for any given genre.

>you can be a condecending asshole if your favorite albums are obscure, if your favorite albums are popular within their genres, shut the fuck up

What a massive moron you are

Attached: Screenshot 2018-10-26 at 16.16.28.png (906x1146, 740K)

Heres my top 10 films. I bet my taste is shit here too because none of them are obscure

you're a delusional cuck. uncuck yourself before its too late

Attached: Screenshot 2019-03-13 at 01.59.58.png (1514x1154, 462K)

Wow, great comeback, retard. I love how the moment somebody calls YOU out for having surface level taste, you spaz the fuck out and repeat "liking popular albums isn't a bad thing" or "liking obscure music doesn't make you cool" which you could say in defense of the people who you sperged the fuck out on.

Curating and cultivating a taste in music isn't a contest. Do it at your own pace and don't judge other people for doing it slower than you or having more restrictive horizons than you might have. Don't bother because there's somebody who knows more than you who thinks you're a fucking pleb. There's your moral lesson for the day. Hope you're less autistic in RYM threads in the future.

You don't have to take pictures of your stupid movie ratings for me, I already found your account. Who the fuck actually uses the film section of RYM?

Attached: basic bitch.png (732x347, 59K)

my chemical romance? never really appreciated them

mucore but the best of it, spiderland will always have a special place for me

lots of u have too many 5's
+TBLA, Bark Psychosis, Gregor Samsa
good emo stuff
+++All 3
wonderful taste. i would argue that ambulance is better than ape of naples tho
+Talk Talk, LTE, Eels
I could never give that Eels album that high of a score because of the handful of awful tracks on there. sucks because most of the songs are flawless
nice. challenge for a civilized society and the future of what are just as good tho
+Budd/Eno, Coil, Nico, LRD, Talk Talk
good choices, kinda basic but i respect all the picks
++Basho, Nick Drake
-Bright Eyes, Bob Dylan
Hope that you've heard other Basho albums too. Too many people only listen to that one
+Long Fin Killie, This Heat, Svitlana Nianio, Cukor Bila Smert
+Comus
-everything else
ajj is atrocious
+Pere Ubu, Neu, OTC

>if I rate a bunch of orchestral/classical music people will think I have really good taste and give me (You}'s on Yea Forums

I see through your gimmick.

I rate a lot of classical though, you can see on my profile. I really enjoy the genre, why is this hard to comprehend? lol

>+Pere Ubu, Neu, OTC
-most of the rest
dub housing is better than modern dance

I only posted one page out of like 7, but ya Dub is great too, I just prefer TMD. I can respect that opinion
literally don't understand how anyone gets to a 5 star white album rating. A third of the fuckin album is half-baked throwaways and lame Little Richard imitations

t. embryo

I never said you didn't enjoy it user, I said it's a good gimmick to woo Yea Forums. It works just as well with Blues (the older and more obscure the better) as well as Jazz. You're welcome for my (You)

>I said it's a good gimmick to woo Yea Forums. It works just as well with Blues (the older and more obscure the better) as well as Jazz.
I don't really know if this is accurate, but creating a profile and rating some stuff you dislike just to gain compliments on a Chinese Rubik's cube forum is stupid, and that's not what I'm trying to do.

Dubs of truth. Making factitious ratings on RYM for clout on a Burmese Daguerreotype forum is retarded but I have no doubt in my mind that people do it and it is a great gimmick.
I should know :^]

Here's some of them, the rest are here:
rateyourmusic.com/collection/Johstybach/r5.0

All three of these are very good choices.
Very based choice.
Why Dust Bowl Ballads? Also, props for Obscura.
*Shels has been in my backlog for a long time now, I still need to check that album out.
If you want to listen to more obscure stuff, you can make esoteric charts for genres you like.
Props for the two correct Pink Floyd albums as 5/5.
Lots of good choices here.
Basic Channel and Natural Snow Buildings are both very based, good stuff.
Love both of these albums.
Great Choice.

I actually really enjoy WttBP, it always bounces between 4.5 and five stars for me, im not sure how much of that is influenced by nostalgia though

Also, Since Im not a big ol gay, I dont have one of those fancy websites, so Im just gonna post my list here

>Dismemberment Plan - Change 5/5
>The Strokes - Room on Fire 5/5
>Weezer - Pinkerton 5/5
>Catch 22- Keasby Nights

+Dvorak Cello Concerto played by soloist Pablo Fernandez

Can't imagine music gets better than this. Taterbug is pure emotional genius, and White Noise is pure technical genius
Honestly pretty interesting pick for #1, not a big fan, but I can dig it
You fit into a nice melancholic niche, maybe throw on Cursive's Domestica if you're looking for something more aggro (I'm bad at recs so you prob won't like this much)
Safe, but good taste. Both those albums are some of the most inspired of the 90s.
There's better stuff to be found in more melodic music if I'm being honest.

Attached: 5s.png (2892x314, 139K)

Bump

polnareff is a underrated gem, those first three albums are pure gold

What those ratings mean?
Nice taste btw

haha look i replied to everyone i'm so funny and quirky

The ones I gave other people or the tags on my own ones?

The ones for other people are as follows.
1 point awarded for an album I consider 6.5/10 or above
0.5 awarded for album above 5/10 but below 6.5/10
And the second number is the total amount of albums I know on each list

& Thanks m8

Bump

cool guy

good anco picks, friend

Always open to rec, friend

The last one is Rhinocervs - RH12
It's how black metal should sound, tyvm.

Add me up, i guess rateyourmusic.com/~VWUWV

Not bad

Intredasting, saved to dig through later

Attached: fite_me_m8.jpg (643x459, 44K)

I was just saying for myself. You clearly really like experimental drone-y rock in which case I'll recommend Fushitsusha's 1st if you haven't heard it yet, but I will say you could try branching out to the weirder side of prog. Maybe listen to Rock Bottom by Robert Wyatt

>Can't imagine music gets better than this.
i wouldn't hold your breath on this statement being true because you've only rated like 300 albums
also white noise is fucking terrible

That's only over albums that I've rated in the past 5 months. In total I've listened to well over 1,000 albums and none of them have reached the peaks those two do for me. And I wasn't saying that music can't be on a similar level to that, just that I don't think there's anything better. I'm sure I'll find a few more 10/10 pieces of music in the world. Also, how did you find me lol?

>I'm sure I'll find a few more 10/10 pieces of music in the world.
keep looking user, life is worth living just to fulfill the knowledge that there's something left in this that you were born to experience
we're all gonna make it
>Also, how did you find me lol?
you can find literally anyone itt in like 5 seconds, just go to the ratings section of the least popular album on their 5s list and match the rating date. i used the taterbug thing for you

>keep looking user
Of course I will! I'm not convinced it's an easy search, but as long as I'm finding things that border perfection I'm perfectly happy to keep browsing
>just go to the ratings section of the least popular album on their 5s list and match the rating date
never considered that, but it makes a lot of sense

Also, why do you hate An Electric Storm?

i probably just judge it from a different perspective from yours, i don't care much about technicality if something is annoying to listen to and an electric storm is pretty obnoxious texturally/structurally to me
i gave it a 2.5 because it was kinda neat for its time but the united states of america and silver apples both experimented with electronics better, for my money

Attached: 55.png (1366x468, 32K)

You are a walking meme and I hate you

Have you heard the best Zappa live album "Road Tapes Venue 2" yet?

Attached: u.png (1022x1587, 338K)

that's a lot of 5s, way too much ye

>the worst afx albums
shig

Attached: 99999999.png (825x362, 13K)

Fair enough. Electric Storm is a bit of an anomaly for me in that I normally don’t care too much about technicality, but the complexity they’re able to reach through manipulating sound is like no other band at the time imo. I get why people like things like the USA and Silver Apples, but those bands feel more boring than White Noise to me

Ehh
My 5’s are only 4.9% of my total ratings.

Until recently it was closer to 25 but I’ve had a lot of albums grow on me the past couple months as I’ve come back to them.

Kanye is tied for my favorite artist so no apologies for thaf

Yikes!

C418 truly is a genius of modern music

hi there! thanks :) big + on natural snow buildings, recently discovered it and really like it
trust me, it gets better over time :)
PtH is unironically great, but kind of in an ironic way
shels is great, it dabs on all the shitty third wave post rock garbage out there
>You have trouble dealing with your emotions
not really, but nice 5s apart from the beatles

It's a good album, but I admittedly haven't spun it as much. "Open the Gates" is good, but the riffs sound like they have moss growing on them.

what a shit comeback lmao

i'm gonna fuck ur ass and then you'll know something about a shit cumback bitch
