It's more like listening to it years ago and not liking it then re-listening for the first time in a while and loving it
it happens all the time

This

Jeez I can't even sit through another go all the way through.

Honestly this album just got worse over time for me. I initially liked it as a teenager, but I guess I just outgrew it.

It's definitely a teen angst album. Still love it though.

I think the first and second to last track are amazing but everything in between is pretty forgettable

stay home is a masterpiece

took a couple listens

clicked immediately

utter garbage

this and pic related

This album is a masterpiece. The lyrics, arrangements, and melodies are all masterfully crafted. However, if you’re like me and you weren’t used to listening to longer songs the first time you listened to this, you dropped it. I tried listening to it twice when it came out but could never get through it. I slowly became attached to some songs though and began listening to them more and more often. Before I knew it, I’d become obsessed with each song in the album at least once in a span of like 4 months. Now it’s my favorite album and I can still listen to it like 9 years later and still find new things in it to appreciate it. It’s really worth getting into because once you are into it, it doesn’t stop giving.

yeah no, does anyone actually fucking like this album? or do they just pretend to like it because it got a 10 from melon. it's not even the fucking best in its genre

Never bothered to listen to American Football until Silhouettes on a whim. One, that was some good ass shit. Two, I didn't think it was that hard to get into any of their music, their melodies are just really fucking appealing.

Why wouldn’t this click on first listen?

I think it's a really fun album, it's like a carnival of hellish sights and sounds that's so damn showy and over the top that it's not even perturbing, just entertaining.

you are either in highschool or still live in your hometown.

I feel like this is FINALLY clicking
Jesus Christ, it's so forgettable on the first ehhh 20 or so listens

ITT brainlets who have never played music.
How do these take more than one listen to "click"
are you retarded?

Don't encourage them

What is wrong with you people?
I liked all of these on first listen.

Neutral Milk Hotel has yet to click for me.
I'm 26. Been playing music my whole life. How do I appreciate it, believe me I've tried.

maybe you just don't like it? You can appreciate it for what it is/the influence it had on the genre without enjoying it.

Yeah, I don't really like it but can appreciate it. I'm just having a gut reaction to user calling people retarded.

don't listen to anyone on this board. It's genuinely suffered the most from the popularization of the internet and 'reddit influx' if you will.

This seems to be the most approachable board since normies love to say "zomg music is my life" when they listen to shit like cage the elephant or have heard 2 radiohead songs. Obvious exaggeration but still, don't be fooled by the hostility, because chances are the guy calling you a 'pleb' doesn't know shit about music

honestly i feel like money store is harder to get into then clouddead

How? I loved both of those albums when i first heard them when i was 16 or something.

just not as memorable as most of their others I guess. still great albums

Fair, but you're forgetting Stay Home and For Sure

this bop instantly clicked for me

>Imagine being so plebeian that you have to listen all these albums a few times to "click"
You don't belong here

>imagine your listening experience being this shallow
I bet every Yea Forums approved album clicks with you instantly

Psych 9-5 Club was an instant favorite when came out, but this one took a while to click.

I had only listened to it on a surface level the first couple times and didn't really care for like 80% of the album. It's amazing how much detail was put into this.
