If you ask me, L7's first album was the best. Everything after kinda blows.
Know all the artists by name, but haven't heard a note of any of their respective discographies. Will check out Oingo Boingo.
It took me a while to get into "Convicted" but once it clicked, it became a favorite. The blastbeats are a little sloppy on that album.

In a way, yes. Solange was bad but given the option, I'll usually take chilled-out bad over repetitively noisy bad. I love raw cacophony in music, but there needs to be interesting arrangements underneath it to hold my attention. I like music and composition, not random emotional tantrums.

Ideally twice, but if I got a backlog, I just rate the album as soon as I finish listening track to track and then revisit it later. If I feel differently about the music, then I'll change the rating.

I give a tentative rating about three quarters through my first listen, and then tweak it accordingly with each repeated listen as my feelings change on it. I find that very, very rarely does my rating change more than 0.5 or 1 star from my initial impression.
