I don’t think it’s too bad, and I like the single art that goes with it. They finally look like a world music influenced band.
I would have called the album something more simple like Sunflower and kept their original album art style. something like pic related.

The Strokes did it with Comedown Machine, but it was more of a “fuck you” cause it was the last record in their contract with RCA. It might be the same deal with VW, I’m not sure tho
quite the opposite actually. all their albums up to now were on XL, an indie label. they only just signed to Sony Music last fall.
