What's your favorite Tom Waits album and why?
bone machine
was my 3rd and the one that felt the most powerful to me at the time for some reason
+1
I concur
Bone Machine was my first and still tied for favorite with Franks Wild Years.
I’d also like to take this opportunity to say Black Rider is wildly underrated.
I’m going with Rain Dogs. Every song is great
Blue Valentine. Because I like it.
Swordfishtrombones or Rain Dogs or Mule Variations or maybe Frank's Wild Years or Bone Machine. They're all good.
mule variations
Bone Machine for me
Has good songs on it, and I prefer his crazy kooky shit
Swordfish or Bone machine
Rain dogs is my fav album of all time tho
I've only listened to a few of his albums but I really like closing time and the heart of Saturday night. Some great drinking music
Rain dogs just takes you somewhere other albums can't
The Heart Of Saturday Night
Small Change
Nighthawks At The Diner
Blue Valentine
Closing Time
The Shrek 2 album
Not a fan of his music but his story in The Ballad of Buster Scruggs was the best one and I had no idea he was a great actor.
it also functions as a confidence booster before a date
See Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus, Coffee and Cigarettes, and Wristcutters: A Love Story for more movies where Tom is the best part by a mile.
Down By Law was kind of shit though.
Used to be Frank's Wild Years, nowadays it's either Rain Dogs or Mule Variations. Come on up to the House is the best closing song, easily
probably because it was my first one and you never forget your first.
The one where he doesn't sing in an unbearably gruff and whiskey-soured voice. So basically a hypothetical one that doesn't exist.
what is he waiting for?
