very unique track. The saturation is maybe just a bit much but I know it was intentional and a matter of personal taste.
Magic Highway is very good!
fuck yeah man, only listened to a couple of tracks yet from the playlist but this is so fucking good already. The middle transition in 'waste' is beautiful.
Always Recc:
>The middle transition in 'waste' is beautiful
Thanks. It only gets worse from then on though
Looking forward to your upcoming album. Nice soundscapes you have there.
Love this! Really really chill and the switch up sounds amazing.
Holy shit beautiful harmonies on the indie folk track. Sounds professional as hell.
me
Here's a WIP electronic track.
This is the exported "outline file" - it's where I just write and organize the midis and general ideas, i don't focus on sound design, orchestration, or mixing as much when I make these project files. So if anything seems half-baked other than just composition in this file that's why. If there's a part where an instrument is mixed way too loud, that's just because I'm brute forcing it to the top of the mix when I'm composing it in that section.
soundcloud.com
This is the 30 seconds I've been completely producing of it when I've had the time to these past couple days. Completed orchestration and sound design. This part appears at about 30-45 seconds in the outline file.

not expecting anything because not a single post in this thread has been a response or criticism but i'll give others that in this thread that courtesy and maybe it will come around

sounds good enough. emotional, energetic. really getting me ready for the beat to come in and just tear me to shreds, except, if it's an uninspired house or techno kick it probably won't. I mean, that might work, but I'm hearing a real flowing, choppy beat in my head just listening to the intro
yes, you are
thanks
Decided that i should finally open a SC acc.
Make all sorts of stuff...
That 30 second snippet you posted sounds super nice, the whole thing flows together really well. Same thing darkmatter said, I'm just prepared for some extra bassline / percussion to come in afterwards and crush my head in.
The last song has hints of potential, just stop making music "uronically", stick to one genre and try to improve
>indie folk
This is some of the best indie folk I've ever heard. I wish I could give you some criticism but this genre isn't my forte. The only thing I would say is your lower frequency instruments like the bass drum/bass guitar could be more prominent. If I was writing this, I would have a section with a solo acoustic guitar or a key change or something but that's just me. Personally, if this song had a climax with some switch-up like that, it would make it one of the best pieces of music I've heard all year. But it's already really good, you have some insane vocal talent, the mixing is professional quality, and the composition is really pretty and nails the vibe of what I think people come to this genre for in the first place.
>dream pop/garage rock
There are some really interesting instrumental ideas in here, like the phasing/flanging bass arpeggio in Perfect Scene. In that same track the opening lead line is so damn catchy. The drums and rhythm guitar in Pub Crawl are really good, I just find myself wishing there was a stronger bass presence in this track in the first half, and when the frequency spectrum finally is fully filled out in the climax at the end, it's super short and the mixing could be more focused. The spacey vocal effects in the middle are really interesting and I like that as an idea, I would try and focus on how you can creatively build upon that idea in future bridges, or even find ways to incorporate it on top of solos or choruses. I like Panadol. The last track has a really catchy lead line which reminds me of the one in Perfect Scene, but the mixing is not nearly as strong in this track. I can't make out the vocals in it. Some really good structural ideas in here though, you know how to develop a full song, you know how to make the quiet slow sections as meaningful as the choruses. Overall this EP is weaker for me than the folk track but still solid.
New Heat (One Man Army x New World Mashup)
I mashed up Krewellas 'New World' with one of my own songs/productions-- I like how it turned out
Thanks so much for all the feedback man, it really means a lot.
We've since added some violin and atmospheric electric guitar stuff to the indie folk track to give it a bit more progression and build over the course of the track. It'll be on an EP we're working on atm, that'll hopefully be done soonish. Also thanks for the EP feedback, I know mixing is definitely something I need to improve at. Some aspects of it ended up being pretty rushed towards to end (especially the final track).
Thanks again my guy, is there anything from you I could listen to?
Ha I was wondering why you guys didn't hear what came after it in the other file but I realized I uploaded the wrong one. I accidentally uploaded a midi file for a single instrument I had selected when I pressed export. Lol I was wondering why it exported so quickly. My bad. The intro I showed you shows up 30-45 seconds in on THIS track:
soundcloud.com
Sadly, most of the drums are generic but that's kind of the point of the outline file, it's so I can focus on songwriting alone so it's completely developed before I worry about other parts of the track. So the main drums are really shitty and the synths are mostly generic, but that will all change. And thank you for your responses, I'm glad you like the intro. I'll listen and respond to darkmatter's stuff next.

I really, really, really dig your stuff. You have a great sense of rhythm and sound design, and you have a strong overall purpose/vision. You're an actual artist, I respect that. In Waste, I love those eerie vocal samples and all of the switch-ups on the bass/rhythms. You seem to really creatively thrive in this setting, because there's just so much material. I don't know if this is part of the lo-fi aesthetic, so forgive me if I'm missing the point, but the bass sound itself doesn't seem completed. The core concepts of the sound design are great, but the more nuanced parts seem like they could use improvement. For example, I would make multiple copies of the same instrument, and effect/eq them differently. You could have one copy of the bass highpassed and distorted/flanged/phased for more texture, and one highpassed with reverb and stereo shaping. I think this track could have a more confident/insane/intimidating synth presence if it had a better stereo presence. There are also just little things I notice all over, really minor things that could be improved upon, so much that it would be really hard to go through it all, like the drum sample's needing like a little pinch of reverb or something as a hypothetical. But despite that, your vision is very mature and impressive.
I'll share my approach to music and you can tell me what you think: look at every single instrument/detail you possibly can, systematically think "what can I add to harmonize or complement this, what is every possible thing I can do to make this something only I could have made, and how can it sound more professional." You seem like you already do that in a general sense with your overall style, so just treat each instrument and layer as if it was its own piece of art in and of itself.
You could realistically be making some of the best music in the genre one day. It's like the deep cuts of Noisia's Split the Atom on speed.

Very creative, very developed sound. Reminds me of Panda Bear.
Wow, my man, thank you. This is the biggest feedback post I think I've seen in these threads. I totally get what you mean about the nuances, but there's a good reason why I focused mainly on the layouts of the tracks themselves and not the individual instruments - every one of those waste tracks was made in less than an hour/hour and a half as I had some creative sparks and just wanted to finish them as soon as possible. Didn't even think people are gonna like them like they do haha
But connected to that is also
>systematically think "what can I add to harmonize or complement this...
>You seem like you already do that in a general sense with your overall style
You read me like a book here. In the past couple of months I had this idea in my head of making tracks that work as overall pieces and spent less time worrying about the details. Thanks for bringing my attention to it as I basically forgot that I was doing that - it just turned to pure intuition doing it that way. I'll try to go more in depth and explore more of the sounds I throw into these tracks in the future.
Again, thank you, man, I really appreciate it.
Are you by any chance the 'outline file' guy who said he's gonna review my shit?

Yessir that's me! I'm glad I could give some useful feedback. I know what you mean when you say you need to capitalize on those creative moments. There's a pretty dramatic difference between nothing seeming to work and when it's like the music is writing itself.
>There's a pretty dramatic difference between nothing seeming to work and when it's like the music is writing itself.
yea, true. but I also didn't have too much weed so I had to work fast
writing music with weed is x10 better than writing music without it
