Overemphasis on making pop rock and not grunge/desert rock

nothing. it was pretty good.

Ronson, Homme's ego, the weird burlesque attitude, not having Nick or Dave. But mostly Ronson, there's good songs here but they're unlistenable thanks to the production which is a real shame imo.

Ronson for sure, I'll even give you Homme's ego, which is a wildcard because it has given great albums in the past. But the absence of Nick and Dave is definitely not it. Jon Theodore is a genius.

They tried to make a pop album and failed miserably

The production and mixing sound AWFUL

Jon is great but he is no Dave. Albeit, QOTSA have had great records without Dave. Also Mike's bass playing is tight and creative, but just doesn't have the sloppy heavy sound that complimented Homme's guitar and vocals.

It's a Queens of the Stone Age album that isn't Songs For the Deaf.

Nothing t.b.h. my duder

wasn't produced by homme

QOTSA have always been making very bland dad rock

getting old and running out of creative juice

>The production and mixing sound AWFUL
also the songs are shit

how the fuck to you go from LC this is mindless steer burger liquid diarrhea

i unironically like this more than sftd
sftds skits are cancer and there isnt enough solid music, maybe a couple of the songs are catchy while on villain most of the tracks are

Spbp

Homme exposing close minded people as usual

This album worked for me because it was my first time listening to Queens, and bridged the gap from what I was used to listening to pretty well. I found a lot of the songs catchy. But as soon as I went on to discover the rest of the discography I couldn’t really come back to it. It’s not dogshit, just not nearly good enough for this band

You know you are gay, right?

What were your thoughts on this?

Nothing. It's a good record

Dogshit. Was so disappointing I gave up on them.
Still listen to their old records but I ignore everything past era vulgaris.
Also Kyuss was better anyway.

Fag

La, there a problem with it? I stopped at Era Vulgaris.

Desert sessions Vol. 1 >>>>> anything else

The same thing that killed rock as a whole. It's cliche, lazy and lacks an original bone in its body.

Debut
Rated R
Songs for the deaf
ear vulgaris
that's about it.

...like clockwork has If I had a tail and my god is the sun which I like. It all got a bit too complicated.

I kept saying don't do it again.

Left kyuss and made shit music for a decade

I can smell the Monster from my computer

Hey now, I like Kyuss better overall, but I love SFTD more than any single Kyuss album.
In fact it's one of my favourite albums of all time.

Kyuss weren't that great to start with. QOTSA was a better outfit.

Ok, you're a boomer normie

there's worse things

Ok so it's worse that lullabies to paralyze. The magic has dried up a long time ago.

And better things, like not being close minded

Clashing ideas between the songs and production. I love the creative decisions Josh was attempting to accomplish but it didn't gel with this one. He's been talking about making some sort of James Brown dance record and the production would have worked for that. Jon is too muted and muddy and deserves to be heard. The drums are too thin for the type of songs Josh writes on Villains. I still enjoy this album but the production is a problem

A clashing, uneven record for sure.
But with that said, Head Like a Haunted House might just about be one of my top five favorite songs of this decade. Never get tired of it, and hope their next album will expand on that.

>he hopes that QOTSA's next album will have a determined sound he can predict
Silly child, haven't you learn anything?

Expanding upon is not the same as just copying, and is done by even the most avant-garde artists out there, usually with better results than just flinging shit at a vacuum and hoping it will stick.
