Right now it's between a Jaguar and a Jazzmaster. I wanna play really nice clean tones, but not bluesy ones. Like 90s alternative clear clean tones. I want distortion once in a while but not like metal distortion. Nothing heavier than like Weezer. I really do like the fuzzy type distortion. Also, I want to be able to experience with many different tones, effects, and textures. Would you pick a Jaguar or Jazzmaster, or something else? I'm probably going to use a Fender Twin Reverb or a Vox AC30. Thanks.
Help me pick a guitar
jazzmaster is exactly what you want senpai.
Get the P90 my man
Both are great, but I think a Jazzmaster would suit you better.
Also would rec a Vox AC30 over a Twin.
So what's the difference between the P90 and the pickups already in a Jazzmaster? Just less hum, or is there more to it?
Jazz master Vox is all you need boss. Check out the squier jazz and the vox ac10 if you want cheap alternatives that still sound good
Thanks for the advice. What makes the Vox stick out for you over the Fender Twin?
Jmaster
Jaguar > Jazzmaster
those guitars are hipster af
>t. never played the guitar
they have different tones retard
Okay, thanks for the advice! These suggestions are definitely more realistic for me at the moment, though I do hope one day I can have the primo equipment
They are both inferior to a strat
nah you want them for the art hoes and to look like mac demarco. the tones are shit. get a tele
>hipster shit
>tele
tele doesn't suit the sound user is looking for as well though. He literally said "not bluesy [t]ones", and jazzmaster plays way better with "fuzzy type distortion" than tele, while still maintaining solid cleans. I'm sure user doesn't want the twangy tele bridge pickup sound, and the awful muddy stock neck pickup
this guy has no idea what he is talking about. hes either never played or hes a boomer.
Where are you going to practice out of curiosity? You're looking at loud amps
Pretty sure DeMarco only plays Strats tho
OP here. You are right, I don't want the twangy tele sound. I'm also glad to know Jazzmaster goes great with fuzzy distortion. Thanks for looking out for me user
The p90s have less hum and the Jazzmaster pickups are a lot more trebbly (In a good way imo).
My main setup are a Vox AC15 and a Fender Deluxe Reberb in stereo. Pretty much the smaller 1x12 versions of those. The Vox has a bit more character than the Fender especially in the midrange, also the trem effect in the Vox is maybe the best tremolo I’ve played.
The combo of the Jazzmaster pickups and a Fender amp are super bright harsh on the ears.
Mac plays a strat, what’re you on about mate?
I have a friend with a large basement I'd jam with and practice there. But also, I probably won't get the Vox AC30 right away because money. I'll probably start off with an AC10. But it's nice to gain knowledge way ahead of time, you know? But it's a good question, and thanks for asking it
Thanks for the insight about the amps and pickups. Definitely helps.
You just need a Telecaster mate.
I don't really want the bluesy country twang though
tele is probably to bright sounding for op. it sounds like he wants warm tones and the jmaster is just that.
I like treble that is bright enough to cut through the rhythm guitar and shine well but at the same time I don't want it to be bluesy or twangy. Though I do plan on playing a lot of rhythm as well. So you still think the Jazzmaster would be what I want? Thanks in advance
Fair enough. I have an AC15 and the top boost channel, an overdrive and fuzz is all the distortion you'd need
Yeah, that's what I was thinking for distortion too. I think I want a Big Muff Pi, but I don't know what overdrive pedal is good. What do you recommend?
Also, is the main difference between AC15 and AC30 the amount of speakers? Or is it more than that?
I'm really dumb and I appreciate the help
The AC15 has a 1x12 speaker and half the power of an AC30. Those are the main differences.
>fender pissmaster
just buy a real bespoke guitar forget chink shit
Thanks user
What about some overdrive pedal recommendations?
Ibanez tubescreamer is a good place to start since they're cheap, plentiful, and reliable. There's also a million videos on how to dial in volume boost vs distortion depending on what you want to do
I dunno about current Vox lineup but AC15 is 15 watts with 1 speaker and the AC30 is 30 watts with 2 speakers. Both should have tremolo and reverb built-in. There's usually upgraded ones with fancier wiring and better speakers but they're more expensive
Awesome user! Thank you!
The classic ones would be a Ibanez TS9 or a Fulltone OCD.
I used to use a TS9 but now I use the JHS Sweet Tea V2. It’s a two-in-one pedal. The right side is a modded TS9 and the left is a way higher gain overdrive/distortion. It killed the two drives a had before.
Okay. Thanks for the insight!
Teles have serious balls, they sound way more rough for rock guitar than Strats.
made in chinaaaaa we made in china
