you could ask that about like 10,000 bands before you get to Gorillaz. One talented guy does everything and people like his music. He also performs it live, all the concepts for the albums, lyrics, etc.

demon days and plastic beach were amazing. every other album was hiphop wannabe trash

pop and rock are 2 genres and trip hop is a fusion of hip hop and electronic. so now you have 4

They are very inconsistent but when theyre good, they are very good. S/t has some really nice tracks. The entire aethestic is kind of lame but that doesnt detract from the fact that they have some very strong songs

I enjoyed their self-titled and Demon Days, haven't listened to much of plastic beach. I think they're alright. Maybe they coasted off the success of Blur, I don't really know how they blew up so much.
