rhythm guitar and some keys. i paid for the van and the drum kit for the band and a lot of other things to. if i didnt own a lot of our stuff i think they would just kick me out and get someone new because i'm so ugly and fat
Zachary Howard
I think you simply dont stand out user. Even ugly people can be attractive if they have enough confidence on themselves.
You can be ugly but you need to lose weight. Its impossible to look good on stage when fat.
t. Fat user himself
Also don't be a pushover with gear, force everyone to chip in equally. Unless you are super okay with investing a lot of money into gear.
Michael Rivera
they keep saying i'm not really that good of a musician and that because i stutter sometimes to just not talk around them because its annoying to listen to for hours on the road to the next gig
Camden Sullivan
Don't you think those things are things you can improve yourself on? Stuttering could be because of lack of confidence as well. I believe on you user, you can improve yourself. Instead of digging your hole deeper, try to use those critics as leverage to work on yourself.
i think that if they kick me out i might really kill myself

What DAWs do you guys use during songwriting? I'm somewhat familiar with Sonar but I feel its much better for mixing/mastering than recording/editing. Just guitars and vocals.
>a les Paul ever... It literally has all the features of a les Paul but doesn’t have the cons associated with it like tuning stability, head stock issues and quality control
I finally got updated pictures of my build, and Im impressed. The shot of the body in the mold shows it is completely hollow inside like a violin besides blocks for hardware. There is a block for the neck joint, a block for the strap button at the rear, and blocks for the points of the horns, but other than that it is a completely hollow cavity. The whole thing is held together with ribs around the perimeter of the inside
Needless to say Im ecstatic and I really cant wait to hear how it will sound with such a body.

Isaiah Baker
Blow 1k on a guitar and use the rest for lessons
Jaxson Bennett
get a decent guitar ~$1k and then pocket the rest. I don't play electric but if I did I'd probably spend some of it on pedals, amps, etc. Actually, if I had that kinda money I'd get a Leslie

those people aren't your friends, they're using you. fuck them. take your gear and tell them to get lost. doesn't matter how fat or ugly you are, you can lose weight and you aren't that ugly. someone will ALWAYS be uglier than you, and that person still finds happiness. ugly people get laid, if that's you're concern. being ugly can be a blessing in a way because it automatically screens the shallow thots from approaching you, leaving only true waifus who care about your skills. that's why you're never approached. waifus are rare. thots are abundant. your "friends" are the male version of thots. fuck em, there are millions of people who think and feel just like you do, you're just separated by distance. don't kill yourself just because you're not around likeminded people. you can be eventually. in the meantime, focus on improving your skills and doing things that make you happy. unhappiness is temporary, death is permanent. unhappiness can be fixed, death cannot. if you really want to kill yourself, go for it, but be entirely 100% sure that's what you want to do because if you do it there's no going back. i don't think it's worth it, personally, if you're not physically handicapped from experience life in any significant manner, which being ugly isn't no matter how much you may feel that way. And being fat is changeable, and usually if you lose weight you become less ugly at the same time. It's all up to you
Jack Long
i don't know man i get treated like this more or less across the board by people. i never had a girlfriend or really any friends at all either if i'm being honest. i say the guys in my band are my friends when people ask but it's not really true. i'm tired of things being like this and if they kick me out i think i'm going to say i'm done
Bentley Martin
also, odds are, you're not that fat or ugly, you just act like you are because you believe you are so that's how people perceive you. act with more confidence and people will perceive you as a more confident person. confidence is attractive. if you THINK you're unapproachable, and you ACT like you're unapproachable, why on earth would people approach you? Being approachable is the first step to being approached and to be honest, your attitude is entirely unapproachable. I know it sounds like stupid hippy shit, but I'm a married man and I was "popular" for what it's worth when I interacted with people my age despite not being all that special myself, so I hope you take my word when I say you put out an "energy" based on how you hold yourself. People really do pick up on how you're standing, how sad you look, how unhappy you look. Are those approachable traits? Depression is self-defeating. it's a hole and the further you go down the harder it is to climb out. Channel your feelings into guitar, become a guitar god. Work out, lose weight. The skill from being good at guitar will make you more confident, and being more confident will make you happier.
Hi completely new here, bought my guitar yesterday and I'm really excited to learn, feel like a child with a new toy, that being said, I want to learn by myself no teacher or classes, just practice and internet/books, which Ive been told by friends it's completely possible,is Justing Guitar really that good of a starting point? Have seen it recommended here and on reddit (dont kill me)as the best option, any other good resources? Like compute rprograms or phone apps thag you mighy commend? Also curious about yall journey into learning guitar, why guitar? how long did it took to be competent? how has music appreciation has changed since learning to play an instrument?

America isn't even a guitar-focused culture anymore. It's becoming a niche instrument as jazz, rock, and metal die and all the kids want to be like the rappers on TV. We're going to have to get used to foreign guitars making up the majority of the quality section of the market because in the future, guitars won't even be a typical focus in music except in hyper-conservative asian countries where pop culture moves at the speed of molasses.
The saddest part is the rappers aren't even cool anymore. It's a bunch of mulattoes mumbling about smoking weed and playing league of legends.
Gavin Wilson
This is pretty cringe and shows how detached from reality you actually are. Put the anime down and go outside.
Made in Japanese guitars are actually better than American guitars.
Landon Peterson
That has nothing to do with you referring to asian workers as eastern elves. Stop living in a fantasy world. Its for your own good.
Samuel Rivera
My entire family hails from and is still in the UK and Sweden. I'm in the US for school and my parent's work and I haven't seen anything here that inspires patriotism despite being here for the past 9 years. Why would I pay Japanese prices for American work? Your dad might have a fender, but my dad has a hagstrom.
Humorless.

Andrew Walker
Is it cheaper to buy from Japan? Prices here are ridiculous
Gabriel Lopez
You mean they have a good domestic market. Im pretty sure china exports more shit and brands like Gibson Fender and Prs are world famous. Esp isn't even close and theyre probably japans most well known.
Leo Hall
Gibson is world famous for sucking, Fender is massively overrated. PRS is pretty good though.
I never thought of America as making great guitars. Great pianos though.
Brandon Foster
No its not Japanese guitar market is a meme glorified by autistic weebs. Every major jap act uses fender or gibson.
Ethan Parker
Arent Martin and taylor american companies? Nice blog faggot. Fucking shi
Parker Thomas
Depends, I personally would not do it because of how dangerous it is for the neck. Long distance. But i'm sure it might be worth, if you buy from a japanese brand. Bacchus and Edwards (Grass Roots too) comes to mind, they have good and beautiful instruments for 300U$. >Pic related is a 300U$ Bacchus. >What the fuck is a Ibanez.
>sperging over whose guitar that costs as much as a car is better when it boils down to brand names, fashion, and endorsement money in the end and a fender and an ESP with the same basic design sound as similar/different as two ESPs or two fenders of the same design from different runs

Anybody have any guitar duels against AIDS-afflicted third worlders recently? I imagine it would be trivially easy to beat such an individual in a head-to-head competition. I mean, you'd have to be some kind of burnout/deadbeat dad/failed musician to lose a musical contest against someone like that hahaha.
There is a reason why most if not all guitar companies copy both Gibson and fender designs in some aspect. I’m partial to fender and not a huge fan of Gibson but they make amazing instruments even though some are more over priced compared to others.
William Peterson

lol >tfw all those broken bricks aren't going to push themselves up the hill in a wheelbarrow Don't worry bro, when you "mysteriously disappear" again for a few hours I'll pretend you're not a wetback prole if you want.
if it has something that's only available at that price point, like strandbergs and neck through shit with everything that makes noise on one solid plank and various other snowflake configurations that might actually make a difference in sound and feel.
But if at that point it's still a typical strat with a bolt on neck "but better, man!" you wasted your money and could have just got a squire and upgraded the tuners, pickups, and bridge to get the same result. There are people playing professionally and gaining acclaim for using $500 MIM instruments, man. >toooone wooooood maaaaaan, i swear i can hear the difference
Listen don't go off trying to learn impossible songs with tabs it will take years to get anywhere and you wont be able to fit it together right. I used to hack away at Jimi Hendrix licks and buy all the guitar books. There's a book on Amazon I'm reading right now called The practical guide to modern music theory for guitarists. And Id be learning Blues guitar because 1 4 5 is simple and you're going to find no shortage of licks that started it all I'm reading that book alongside The complete guide to playing blues guitar.
Brody Scott
is gibson tuning stability is a meme
music theory is not a meme. playing guitar is all scales and patterns.
Jose Ramirez
God I wish that didn't fucking cost 4 grand.
William Murphy
What. I said that learning Hendrix scales wont teach you writing and I thought it would make me better because I'm a blues guitarist and i've been playing Hendrix licks since I started playing guitar because I figured somewhere after Blues after psychedelic rock had to evolve. I was chasing a pipe dream user.
Anthony Rogers
I do, but my acoustics are MIJ Takamines lol
Blake Foster
MIJ guitars are great I never had a problem with my fender telecaster
Nathaniel Edwards
Its actually 6k. 600kYen. Theres the 600U$ version though.
Would anyone here even justify buying a guitar for more than $2000
Wyatt Jenkins
That would be my personal limit unless its a collector piece or something i can flip for a few more grand
Jose Nelson
I'd make an exception for a kiesel vader up to $3000-3500 if I was actually good.
Things up to $15000 are trivial to save up for
Cameron Smith
I'm beginning to doubt buying fender's MIA and Gibsons MIA because the epiphones and squiers are the same guitar just made in a different factory you can put nice hardware on them (i did with a epiphone) and it turned out great. I put Seymour Duncan cool rails and Grover tuners on my epiphone Stratocaster copy. It looks like from what I've read they're keeping the parent companies in business. If it were up to me I'd like to have (i know its blasphemy to say right now) one good guitar like a Fender Elite Stratocaster and that's it.
Jose Hill
Well, you can get Moca's (without the bandori branding) for much less and it's actually a good guitar instead of a slightly fancier M-II
ESP really charges you for the brand name >dude, we're ESP >ever heard of metallica? >yeah >we're like japanese fender man >totally worth your money >made in japan man, we all have autism over here so our shit's good
I get what youre saying but theres is also a satisfaction in getting a guitar that is perfect and needs no modding or upgrading. My american pro strat came like that and i easnt even a strat guy but the guitar made me a believer. And yeah if you get a decent guitar you can definitely uograde it. Thats what imma do with my latest dean lp copy. It has good bones and im gonna upgrade almost everything besides the wood and tuners. Guitar cost 600 and imma put 460 bicks more into it. Mond you it plays great and flawlessly as is
i tried an american strat and a mexican start at a store. it was a fairly decent local shop that kept everything on the wall set up so you'd know what you were getting.
i couldn't tell the difference, but i'm not any good so i asked another customer that was there who was pretty good to try both and tell me if i was dumb or if they were the same. huge fucking surprise, he said they were the same. then the guy who ran the shop chimed and said they were the same and you just buy american fenders because you want an american guitar.
that sealed the deal for me, i'll buy whatever guitar sounds the best as long as it's not made from pot metal and poplar in a chinese factory with questionable QC.
Ok. Once you develop your ear you will see how shit mediocre pickups actually are. And thats where the modding starts. Uou buy the american if you dont eant to tinker and want a flawless guitar. You buy the mim if you plan on tinkering on it. And once you factor in price and time and effort it will be around the same price as a mia
Luis Stewart
>three poor people who couldn't play for shit decided a shitplank was sufficient what a shocker
John Jones
Once you develop your ear and think "man, these pickups suck", you can pick your own pickups out by your preference instead of the fender marketing department's and then the price will be a few hundred lower than MIA. But your inner boomer will scream in pain because "damn son it shoulda been perfect off the shelf and made in america".
Jason James
>from pot metal and poplar in a chinese Fun enough, a dude made a fun experiment on youtube, making different bodies from different type of wood. Poplar was the loudest. Electric guitar btw.
Yeah thats why im changing the pickups on my lp dean with an aldrich bridge (the white one in it) and imma get a tv jones powertron in the neck. The v mod single coils on my strat are great and very subtle and nuanced much better than the noiseless"single coils" and the shawbucker in the bridge is a low output pickup that really sounds great in combination. A very well balanced guitar i have no desire to swap the pickups on this one.
Mason Smith
good pieces of poplar are great, but cheap poplar guitars only use it because it's cheap and use substandard cuts of wood with inconsistent density
Nolan Bailey
absolutely delusion if you think MIA strat ISNT a shitplank
buying MIA is just paying more for equal shit
Levi Carter
>a guy on YouTube... easy way to spot an idiots post thanks
Landon Fisher
Poplar can have good specimens but most wood is rife with green mineral deposits and just a high percentage of mineral content in general that muffles the overall sonic frequency
so this tells me to buy a classic vibe Mexican strat
Cameron Jones
Ha ha haa I always laugh when I see some dumb shit buy a cheap guitar and immediately start "upgrading" it. They usually start by asking for replacement pickup suggestions. It's like why, you dumb fuck? Why did you buy a guitar you didn't think sounded good to begin with? I'll tell you why: because you don't know what the fuck you're doing and you have no clue what the fuck you're after. You bought some retarded piece of shit because of how it looked in a picture on the internet and then when you got it home and actually played it ..it sounded and played like straight up ass. So you started "upgrading" it instead of admitting to yourself that you don't know shit and made a mistake, or that the guitars construction was so shitty that you didn't have any other choice but to "upgrade" it to make it a playable instrument. Here's the thing though: you could have just saved all the time and money you sank/wasted into "upgrading" a piece of shit and just bought a decent guitar to begin with. You bedroom warriors are a hilarious lot, watching you flail about trying to polish turds into diamonds. If a diamond is what you wanted why didn't you just go out and buy a diamond to begin with?
>jew starts talking about diamonds Fuck off schlomo
Charles Powell
Here's your pity (you) youtube.com/watch?v=Hbyg0d1njk0 I agree with cheap guitar making is a issue. Doesn't matter which wood they'll use, the guitar will have issues. They will use whatever piece they have avaliable without caring if the grain will work for the neck or not.
>change pickups because you wanted a different sound after a few years >WOW YOU SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT A GIBSON! POORFAG! LOOK AT THESE LES PAULS!
Now where the fuck would I start upgrading a les paul after getting sick of its shit? can you get a fender headstock and a deeper body cut on those somehow?
Its thicc. I need to buy some speaker cables and a couple of instrument cabkes too. What you finna cop my nigga?
Anthony Moore
sounds like something lower socioeconomic consumerist trash would brag about
Brandon Lee
Guys I need advice one summer I was doing dishes and venting (I hate doing dishes my hands get wrinkled and I can't play guitar) and my dad was like we found a amp in a barn and he only wants $50 for it. Turns out after I bought it it was a $5,000 fender deluxe from 1956 in mint condition. Missing a few parts, we fixed it up and it sounded like a dream. Fast forward I get into a fight with my bitch of an ex girlfriend and she tells me to sell it. Other musicians I worked with I found out became famous and after all the time I spent playing I got nowhere. Venting I vowed to give up guitar and sold the amp to guitar center for about $2,000. And my MIJ Telecaster for about $500. I noticed there's reissues and there's even a fender amp called the blues deluxe. Should I just buy the blues deluxe for right now and save up for the reissue and when I graduate college eventually buy the old one. I'm upgrading gear and buying again. I decided should I go with the fender blues deluxe and a MIM Stratocaster or MIJ Stratocaster. Or should I save up and buy the reissue.
Camden Lee
You said to tell you more so i did my pseudo intellectual retarded acquaintance
this plus basses are heavy andI don't like to reach my arm out to get to the lower frets

my fingers are also feminine and i don't have any arm strength

I don't like the twangy/percussive sound and would just play it through a guitar amp all the time.

wtf are you on about? you think all bass is twangy and percussive?
Jordan Hall

Relative to a low tuned guitar that's set up and being played like a guitar, yes.
I have fat fingers and caveman grip though so I really should play bass
David Lee
is this why all bass players are nogs by default?
Matthew Sanchez
It's because black culture idolizes rhythm in music and white people put melody on a pedestal
Blake Morales
I'm white, and so are all my favorite bassists.

hey guys if I'm not sure if I'd like to learn bass or guitar more and have no preference, is it a sound idea to just buy a shitter squier/yamaha for both until I actually learn a decent amount and then decide what my tastes are after?
the other option is just dropping money into a single non entry level tier one
Ian Brooks
do your first idea, figure out which one you like better first and then commit
Jace Thomas
You forgot les claypool and Justin chancellor too.
Carter Wright
you can try out instruments and amps alike at any half decent music shop and if they're nice and not too busy they'll even teach you a basic riff
seriously they stand around all day and love to make a sale. just go somewhere that offers used equipment because instruments don't wear out that fast and you can get a better value for your money (as well as something that's close to the bottom of its depreciation curve = something that holds its value).
just whatever you get, don't forget to ask for a setup (~$50) a few days after it's been in your house and adjusted to the humidity.
Gabriel Young
thanks, I don't know if all the minor shit matters when I don't even know how to play and don't have my own taste
probably will just be a BB234 and Pacifica 112/120, I hope the yamaha bass is considered okay.
I'm not sure what the squier equivalents would be
Joseph James
I have been to a store, unfortunately not used but I liked both and it was too soon to decide so I guess I might as well learn a little of both until I can I'm in UK but I'll check reverb for any used mim stuff, if not then probably just yamaha seems like a decent recommendation
Eli Foster
>random death metal bassists really reaching here aren't we

need some guidance from fellow cloven hoof owners, looking to add a pedal to complement it always heard an overview pedal after a muff is that gilmour tone, shit even a ratt going into a muff is killer, or even some sort of boost like eqd's arrows is also said to sound lovely into a regular hoof. too many options out there on the market. some pedals i've like are keeley super phat mod and i'm also digging the walrus audio catalog like the mayflower, voyager and iron horse.
my rig is tuner - cloven hoof - phase 100 - ampeg v4b for both guitar and bass
i highly recommend the squier they are great. whatever you learn on guitar it is easily translated to bass in terms of scales and technique. it might even benefit you to focus on guitar first like get guitar lessons and then teach yourself bass. you can even get that lemmy style plucking open chords from playing guitar. i would play guitar and once i get frustrated i would switch to bass it's so much fun. you can play pick at first but it's so much better to learn playing with fingers. i can't slap for shit though. good luck with everything, user.
Colton King
Oh yea les claypool too. Death metal bassists and drummers are unironically autistic about technical skill and are more talented than 90% of other bass player and drummers in other genres barring classical and jazz.
>the final evolution of the plucked string with percussion ensemble
Death metal is known for circlejerking over technique and theory so much it's a counterpart to modern classical in being unrecognizable as music sometimes.
>TECHNICALLY, AND IN THEORY, THIS IS MUSIC!
Jose Harris
yep, he certainly put a lot of effort into playing terrible music. To his credit, it's quite a feat to make Victor Wooten struggle to play something listenable
That would ironically be EDM. Thats the true grug music. And now you only listen to gay anime music how sad.

this conflation of presitge and social acceptance with everything else without a well thought out argument is a cancer of the adult mind
>IT IS >BECAUSE IT IS >AND I BET YA EVERYONE ELSE THINKS SO >SO IT BE
I have vivid memories of slipping into that mentality as I got older, but I used chemically induced autism to arrest it and remain 'childish' - not able to be fully formed by society's attempts at conditioning me to join the group. I still make just under six figures and get laid despite being an insufferable ass on Yea Forums so I guess that turned out alright.
Connor Rodriguez
This. I own two MIAs and a CIJ, the CIJ is far better.
Because they're actually downmarket from MIAs, they put worse pickups in, but I always change pickups in my guitars regardless.
Pseud argument aside, if it sounds like shit it sounds like shit. Social acceptability be damned
Austin Ross
If you think it sounds good but then you unknowingly slip into genuinely hating it because you were influenced by others that's just the normal course of adulthood but it's still retarded

get an american guitar son,a les paul. it'll be perfect and ya won't have to change anything. if a guitar aint right off the shelf ya spent as much as you would have on an american instrument polishing a gook made turd.
there's just somethin about ownin american hardwood that makes ya feel good about it. yeah, gibson, now they know how to make guitars. the legends didn't play em for nothin.
Gays have a disorder of failed sexual differentiation and it's all on a spectrum ranging from garden variety fag to full on tranny. It's caused by endocrine disruptors in the environment, unhealthy mothers, immune responses to male fetuses, and genetics for defective androgen receptors. This is why they're not only becoming more common, but becoming more gender non-conforming as time goes on. We can still stop it, but the western liberal philosophy says that to stop it would be bigoted, as if gays and transexuals do not suffer and have a naturally high suicide rate from being born into a life they would not have willfully chosen.
I appreciate the sentiment of this post, but it would have worked better if you'd saved it for someone who doesn't own any American guitars.

I think that hetero """love""" is evil because they can engage in non-anal intercourse. Sexual relations without a fecal element is immoral, simple as that.

From being born with mild gender fuckin dysphoria boyo.
Tranny enough to be called one but not enough to transition without ending up with different dysphoria. Believe me, I tried. Hang whoever made this possible.
Im pretty sure it was set up on discord especially because previously i couldnt choose my backing track but this time i couldnt due to your rules even tho i started the dueling. Doesnt matter tho because i got this little piece i like out of it. vocaroo.com/i/s0wyvtYAOQtc Anyways the score is 2-1

I always select the backing tracks, jcm900fag, and I don't use discord.
Frankly I find it strange that you think I care who wins.

Sorry to hear that user. Drug addiction is a bitch. He unironcally must’ve loved you a fuck ton for him to feel so betrayed and hurt by your shit decisions. If that’s any consultation.
Look into getting a Klon Centaur clone you can use that for either a boost or for some gritty overdrive dirt. I wouldn't know what Klon clone would sound best for bass.
