You sir are quite the retard
im scared to listen, I never listened to Pacific Daydream because I knew exactly what to expect. This one is kind of the opposite. I have no idea what to expect because the singles here are a complete mixed bag. High as a Kite being the only one that I really like.
Did you like this trainwreck?
It leaked, it's worse than Raditude, easily
Lol what in the fucking shit. Not trying to act like this is an accomplishment but I’ve been a fan of this band since I saw the Buddy Holly video when it premiered on MTV when I was in third grade. Why are you putting an album you knew was gonna be a disappointment on a pedestal? Spoilers- Weekend Woman (a Green outtake), QB Blitz and La Mancha Screwjob are the only tracks worth hearing. They are catchy but nothing special. Black is way, way better but still not like it’s anywhere near EWBAITE or anything.
Sure, they have put out garbage albums before, but it always hurts.
Black isn’t that bad, it’s almost half decent which makes it way better than PD. There are songs on it that aren’t my type of music but I find myself liking because they are well done, again unlike PD
The only song I really hate is zombie bastards, maybe California Snow too. High as a Kite, Byzantine, and I'm just being Honest are my favorites.
I just can't into this album.
I like some elements of it, but "Prince" is their worst song, it's so fucking awful.
That song isn’t good but I’m still not over Thank God For Girls ruining the otherwise perfect white album. Not only does that song suck but the rest of that album is amazing so it’s shuch a sore spot.
I thought this fucking album was supposed to be a return to their first 2. Load of shit that was.
I'm just being honest sounds so much like one of the tracks from the Japanese Scott and rivers album. Is it an English version?
Thank god for girls is great you plen
I seriously hope Rivers didn't say this. It sounds closest to Pacific Daydream.
They never even implied this. That was just wishful thinking. 90s fags hear "black" and "dark" and immediately think they're getting another Pinkerton.
They said it was going to be experimental and dark. I'm yet to listen to the leak yet, is that true at all?
>having expectations for Weezer after 2005
What the fuck thank god for girls is great you animal
it's cringe
you probably like the red album
Thank God For Girls is good you fucking mouth breather
It’s the worst song they ever made because of its placement on an album that could have been amazing. It’s absolutely shit and would be able to be ignored in Black or PD and wouldn’t even seem that bad on Radirude but on White it just ruins the entire experience.
Thank God For Girls is amazing and its placement makes perfect sense.
yeah, it is, good ear user.
bum
>worse than raditude
this is hyperbolic negative bullshit. it's mediocre but not THAT bad.
Apparently Rivers has another two albums coming, one called Van Weezer and the other being Okay Human
stereogum.com
The album feels soulless, the production is too clean, there is no real peak of emotion. Every moment feels artificial, i dunno.. fake maybe?
But there is one climax , that song "high as a kite" which is anthemic. Perfect pop verses with a classic but very efficient chord progression. It's a future classic.
Anyway it's mostly mediocre if i take the album globally.
In all seriousness, why do any of you even bother to give this a listen? Do you honestly think this band will ever make anything good again? They've lost if for two fucking decades. They had it for MAYBE a few years. It's gone. Let it go.
WALK SOFT WITH A BIG STICK WOO
everything from hurley to pacific daydream was decent to good so why wouldn’t we listen you fucking idiot?
>decent.
You actively seek something out just because it's not bad? That's sad.
Horrid taste. People like you are enablers, it’s why we end up with Pacific Daydream and Black instead of more EWBAITE or White (besides that shit song).
>if it’s not a 10/10 masterpiece it’s not worth listening to
Thats what people said for years but as you admit they had a brief resurgence when they made some great stuff. They could do it again.
>Why would you listen to something mediocre.
>HURR 10/10s ONLY PLZ
Work on your reading comprehension.
I didn't listen to any of those records except White and it fucking sucked. There was no resurgence, unless you just totally overloaded your brain with dopamine, but mine is still functional. Just didn't want to get into it.
anything 6/10 or above is worth listening to
>there was no resurgence
>I never listened to the comeback album
Seriously you should be gassed
>you don't like my 50+ year old radio rock band trying to appeal to teens? kys.
I don’t care if you like it, anyone forming opinions on songs they never heard is a piece of trash. Also EWBAITE was the one single album that catered to the original fans and NOT teens so that’s the worst critisism you could give it. One of the most loved songs on that album is about being a dad for god’s sake.
You must still be at that age where you want to give everything a chance. One day, you'll see through the bullshit and work up the guts to just say fuck off and save your time for something more worthwhile.
Thank God for Girls is one of the best songs on the white album tho
You are quite the stooped retard
>Expecting anything from weezer
Cringe
I’m 34 years old and EWBAITE is one of my favorite albums. Please, tell me an album you like, hopefully one I’ve never heard, so I can judge it with never having listened to any of it.
Do You Wann Get High and LA Girlz are the best songs on White. If anything comes close it’s probably California Kids
>I’m 34 years old and EWBAITE is one of my favorite albums.
lmao thanks dawg. I needed that.
As of now it's just as good as EWBAITE, probably a bit better. That's not a compliment though, because EWBAITE is the most overrated Weezer record by far. Not the return to form that OG fans wanted, feels like a slightly more creative 21P, which is very disappointing.
>Can't Knock The Hustle
A fun funky song
>Zombie Bastards
Generic song that has an interesting melody, there is an interesting acoustic guitar in the background
>High as a Kite
easily the best song on here
>Living in L.A.
Most generic song on here, maroon 5 level. Doesn't even have any odd instrument choices like Zombie Bastards to make it stand out.
>Piece of Cake
a pretty annoying song, at least at first ,it does grow on you.
>I'm Just Being Honest
A really good song, probably the most classic sounding Weezer with an interesting guitar work
>Too Many Thoughts in My Head
This is a weird one, it starts off good, then some awful lyrics appear and then Rivers starts rapping the end for some fucking reason.
>The Prince Who Wanted Everything
Worst song on here, it has this funky riff which, just, repeats until the song ends, really brings the album down, Rivers' "do do dos" are also incredibly obnoxious
>Byzantine
Interesting fun track
>California Snow
I can't believe this piece of shit actually made the album.
>then Rivers starts rapping the end for some fucking reason
Can't even tell if you're joking
I'm really upset that the prince who wanted everything has that riff and they didn't treat it more like byzantine. it could've been a mediocre beach boys song instead of a pile of trash
The first 6 on PD are fantastic, save the decent Feels Like Summer.
Black is like a more overt version of PD in pretty much any aspects. Only weak tunes are Living in LA and maybe I'm Just Being Honest
>The first 6 on PD are fantastic
I only feel the same about the last 6, I think everything before Weekend Woman is garbage.
fantano will give it a light 6 screenshot this
piece of cake could've been a nice pinkerton-esque track if rivers didn't fucking SHIT ALL OVER IT with his fucking modern pop production obsession, i swear to FUCKING GOD i want to bash his head in with a hammer
Those actually sound kinda good.
How will they fuck it up?
Same thing happened with Zombie Bastards. The part where it gets acoustic I thought was pretty good, and a nice ending to the song.
But then I realized it was just the bridge.
Who the fuck is that production style even for? Does Rivers just genuinely like it?
This album is so inconsistent...
Why does Cuomo have to tease us with High as a Kite, with its perfect production, old school vibes and simplicity, and then drop this steaming pile of polished turd?
Why are you putting EWBAITE on said pedestal when White is quite a lot better
he wont give it any lower than a 7
and stop bringing this retard up in threads no one gives a fuck
lol you're dreaming
he'll give this a 4, tops
I agree with this, I liked EWBAITE but i enjoyed White much more.
he LOVED cant knock the hustle and zombie bastards, they were some of his songs of the week or whatever its fucking called. decent five/ light six calling it now
He's a fucking faggot so he'll give it an 8
i was gonna say it's better than pacific daydream but pacific daydream has one song i really like (youtube.com
Nah, after White Album Rivers said he wanted to make a "darker" album lyrically where he would swear more but he also said it would be more poppy and electronic. But people heard "black album" and "darker" and assumed it was going to be Pinkerton again.
Metacritic score is at 55. Not looking good
Can we get a definitive reason as to why they continue to shell out shit albums?
Im assuming theyre just having fun at this point and they know people will still continue to go to their shows.
Its obvious they havent lost it after listening to the white album
I'd say money, this is a very cynical era
I prefer EWBAITE but regardless I’m talking about it because that user said he never listened to it but he hated white
It's up
M A S T E R P I E C E
I hope Van Weezer is a heavy metal album akin to Maladroit.
i’m really disappointed it’s not a dark version of the white album like i originally expected
it’s more like pacific daydream part 2
Agreed, that song is really fucking good and inspired, very much one of the best things they've done post-Pinkerton.
They clearly aren't proud of Pacific Daydream and Black.
Rivers needs to stop trying to write songs in a robotic, autistic methodical way and do it the way he did on the first 2.
>mfw Hurley is the secret great Weezer album
I swear it's not liked as much because of the cover and the fact that it came after raditude.
because the first 2 albums were actually an authentic expression of himself but he got too embarrassed and freaked out and now only puts on a performance
This is really worse than Raditude in some ways, at least all Raditude tracks have strong melodies and choruses with nice vocal performance
The band sounds disjointed on Black Album, it sounds like they were forced to make this and wanted to drop this idea long time ago
Rivers soinds completely uninterested expect for High As A Kite which is easily the best song on here
It has some of the worst song writing and lyrics on any Weezer album, Prince is an absolute price of shit and definitely bottom Weezer.
"Piece of shit" fuck
stereogum.com
WEEZER NEEDS TO DIE
that’s actually based af
fuck you reddit
>everything I don't like is reddit
Don't be such a doorknob
>Sure, they have put out garbage albums before, but it always hurts.
Don't worry, they have two more albums coming out this year
You sure it's this year?
How would you know it's mediocre if you hadn't listened to it, retard. White is also far from mediocre.
Yup. Every time I come back to it I'm impressed with how well it holds up. There's a few mediocre tracks IMO but it's easily their best album post-maladroit and pre-EWBAITE.
>Weezer will never make a song as good as Time Flies ever again
>CKTH
I like it. Fun song
>ZB
It's alright
>HaaK
Fantastic
>LiLA
Boring
>PoC
Somehow annoying and boring at the same time
>IJBH
Great
>TMTIMH
I actually like this track
>TPWWE
Just bad
>Byzantine
This song is really pleasant
>CS
This sounds like a reject PD song
6/10 I guess maybe 6.5 for High as a Kite
The most sensible response here
Both albums sound like they'll be great. OK Human is produced by Jake Sinclair, who was the producer for White.
Is listening to a new Weezer the high risk high reward of music?
Only if you are a weeb.
Time Flies is garbage, and this new album has at least 7 songs better than it
reminder that pinkerton's b-sides and blue album demos are the best content weezer's ever put out

everything after the turn of the century is just embarrassing
>reminder that pinkerton's b-sides and blue album demos are the best content weezer's ever put out
Yes
>the band that promotes itself with self-consciously ridiculous gimmicks promotes itself with a self-consciously ridiculous gimmick
I'm shocked
You guys should hear Opposite Sides of The Same Good Ol Fence if you like their old stuff.
I guess you fellas weren't ready for that yet
There's will come a day when you won't be able to hide behind your badge, Sheriff.
There will be a day where you won't be able to hide behind your screen and that day is now
How the fuck does a band like Weezer only have two good albums?
Listened to it today, and it sucks. 4/10
Green, Maladroit, Make Believe, Red, EWBAITE, White are all great
Black too
i like it all
rivers got scared of getting too introspective or non-pop after pinkerton initially flopped
hurley gang
It's growing on me
if you hate any weezer album (ok make believe and raditude are acceptable) fuck off
i like it compared to most crap on the radio, the staring track i forgot the name but it is the best song on the album by far
says you in this thread
it's ok
Enough to keep going
Oh man OK Human is inspired by Nilsson, I'm fucking hyped
>compared to most crap on the radio
Not exactly a difficult bar to pass
I don't like it
>STFU
>GTFO
They have good songs in them, but there's too much filler on their albums.
>That feel when 28 year old boomer
>heard surf wax america for the first time in like years
>reminded me of when i was young and weezer was good and me and my brother would listen to them, and i wasnt a loser who wanted to die all the time
>rmeber modern weezer a shit
>modern world and its music a shit too
i want to go back
If they actually spent two solid years in a recording studio instead of distracting themselves and fans with stupids memes and gimmicky stunts, then maybe they could actually produce a 10/10 album. Why is Cuomo so autistic ffs
>Peak weezer
Im just being honest, high as a kite
>Green tier
Byzantine, can't knock the hustle, Zombie bastards,
>can't remember 5 minutes after hearing the album tier
Piece of cake, California snow
>Garbage tier
Prince, living in la
It's the definition of a mixed bag.
California Snow and Piece Of Cake are great
Only Prince is really bad
Favorite tracks:
Too Many Thoughs in My Head
High as a Kite
California Snow
I'm Just Being Honest
Least favorite:
Piece of Cake
why the fuck does living in la sound better live? youtube.com
youtube.com
This has to be a joke. The fucking rapshit and whooping near the end has to be some sort of shitpost, right? Or has Cuomo in his pathology finally achieved a state of mind that unironically churns this shit out?
WOO
Like some shit in that song seemed good at first- the fat electronic bass and the synths sounded great, but what even the fuck after that?
Fun album. It's hard to rank among their output due to how eclectic it is, but I'd consider it high tier.
Op here
Same, it had to grow on me, bad first impression
>Inspired by Nilsson sings Newman
I love this album but I feel Cuomo is going misinterpret some of the charm that album had and just fuck it up
honestly I don't hate this album, some of the songs if not most of them is a bit stupid and silly but it's not bad, it's honestly pretty different compared to all of their other stuff.
It got put through a distortion pedal
You're not human. I bet you liked (Girl We Got A) Good Thing
Sorry that was for the user slagging off tgfg
that's like the best song on that album though
I like Jacked Up too. It's full of incredible songs
I'm really astonished they came up with something as good as the White Album this far into their career then immediately returned to churning out more of the usual pure shit. Baffling.
Nah lol
this
he put CKTH, ZB, and HAAK under the best tracks and Living in LA easily one of the worst in the meh category.
