you really needed to make a third thread?

youtube.com/watch?v=opmg6lK8FkY

Does this shit actually make any significant difference or should I just restring my guitar the normal way?

the other thread was made by the spammer and had a troll OP/non working links

hope you reported it

That's just a standard string change for me, didn't know there was any other way to do it without slipping.

Posting in the true /gg/ thread

>tfw I used to love my Telecaster but now it sounds too thin when I play with a drummer

That's neat but locking tuners are still the way to go.

eq

There's no comfier way to spend a Sunday that playing jazz standards in the afternoon.

Attached: Z7HeRxU.png (512x512, 361K)

why even buy an amp? Just use a graphic eq.

youtube.com/watch?v=4CtqfHmssx8

This is the traditional method. At 3:08. Would the first method make much of a difference or are they both fine?

Because amps have eq

Put on 11s or 12s. They sound like trash with anything less

>a Sunday that playing jazz standards

what are your amp eq settings to make a tele sound like a les paul?

compressor, breh. it'll give you the punch you're looking for

I didn't say you could make it sound like an LP, and neither did you. You said it was thin.

GUITAR IS TURNING YOU GAY

So I just turn the bass to 10 and zero the other two?

did u guise kno that cl_ _ _o plays the heck out of her galldurn gitfiddle like a m'fin' riot

Soon as you learn to IQ.

Good comeback. You really got me with that one. How will I ever recover? Suck burn dude!

>Suck burn dude!
Kinda dumb don't you think

Chapo is pretty gay but drunk Matt was a fucking riot

My amp only has a bass and treble knob. There isn't a lot in between 'bight as hell' and 'mud'

Good call. I may go back to flats. I had them on there for a while but went back to rounds because it's easier to play chords

Always an option. Good call.

Yeah, I do. It's called sarcasm.

I just tried this. I'm not sure if it sounds like a les paul or just jazz.

I play

holy fuck another day of visitors guys. theyre coming almost on a daily basis. will i ever be able to play guitar again?

Well, you have to think about it from a certain perspective when you're here. Like see this guy here ? He's talking about "spending his Sunday afternoon playing jazz standards" but what he's not saying is how he's playing them in an empty room by himself like a complete fucking loser. Or this guy here "I play"? lol, be mean and ask him the name of his band.

Just keep in mind anytime /gg/ talks about "playing" they're never talking about playing for or with other people, they're talking about their inability to do this. That's why they all waste their time here. Once you understand that /gg/ ends up being pretty simple to navigate and interpret.

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1280x720, 67K)

He didn't say playing for or with other people, or even gigging. He said "playing". Stop being fucking autistic and dissecting other people and focus on your life instead.

>He said "playing"
Right. In an empty room by himself like a complete fucking loser. "I play" is essentially the same this as "I masturbate".

All alone. By yourself. Literally because no one wants to fuck with you. Nothing to be proud of.

Not everyone on here is a little shitstain 16 year old. I'm old. I've been there and done that. I play because I want to now. Not because I feel the need to be seen and heard.

FYI: furiously jacking your tiny dick all alone in your room isn't an accomplishment.

Just sayin'...

You hurt my brain with your stupidity.

Right, you're admitting you're a fucking loser.

Keith Richards is old and is still out there doing it so why aren't you? There's an answer to this question but you wouldn't be ever honest enough to say it.

your imagination s prolly better

Some people get enjoyment from playing the instrument. Why does that bother you?

>We're talking about guitars
its cute that you might really believe this

Play with another guitarist or a bassist. It’ll sound just fine in the mix.

Assuming you’re starting with every EQ knob at 5, try turning the treble down to 4, boost the bass to 6 and the mids to 7-8.

does not having SD pickups, wilkinson trem, grover tuners really matter when you're learning for your first year or two anyway?

>guitar for channeling the ghosts of people who actually listen to shred

So I’m really getting into surf guitar of the 60’s, specifically Dick Dale’s middle eastern tunes. I’ve got a complete mismatch of stuff: A epiphanies les Paul II, a fender champion 20 watt amp, and a real smooth tremolo reverb pedal. Drenching everything in wet reverb and some tremolomakes my music sound close, but I feel like I’m missing an element.

There is a better way.
Learn the seven natural keys in open position in this order – C G D A E B. Then string them up the neck in this order – C B A G F E D. This is by far the easiest way to see the whole fretboard and the more theory you know the more you’ll see how much freedom this gives you.

Each shape can be played two ways. three notes on the b string or three notes on the g string.

Be honest with yourself, could you really do better than that if you had a face like Lemmy?

Well, the fretboard already looks as dry and low quality as a real gibson

a better question is how overblown is the girls like guitarists meme?
i'm not sure if anyone here can actually answer that

Is Ebm - Db - Ab too medieval sounding for a chord progression?

I was in this dive bar once. Some local band was playing. Oldest member couldn't have been over 19. Anyway, the guitarist was some kid barely 18, playing a vintage 70s Strat. His mom and her friends made up most of the crowd. His mom was completely groupie-ing all over him. Like she was at a Foghat concert in the 70s and wanted to bang the guitarist...except it was her son. total incest vibe.

Yes, never play medieval music

Considering the massively overinflated ego of your average lead guitarist, I'm going to go ahead and guess that it's pure fabrication

I'm going to buy a guitar and bass, just take turns alternating until I learn a decent amount and decide which I'd like to become proficient at.

I guess I'll just go with yamaha since they're a good price point in bongland and I have other things from them.

What are decent yamaha bass and guitar models to start with/consider?

How is your Sunday going /gg/?

I just realized I've been making actual progress as a complete beginner and that it's already going better than all the other times I've tried learning guitar. Really feels like I'm actually learning as opposed to just doing things.

Attached: 1523963338654.gif (300x167, 894K)

Not that guy, but lately I have been keeping my tele tone knob at 5-10% for that warm jazz sound. It actually comes through quite clear at those levels, but any less than 5% gets muddy/underwater sounding. I dime the amp bass knob btw

are suhr guitars worth the money?

Bump. Anyone?

Experiencing a total renaissance rn. I've been making more progress in the last few months than in the rest of my years of practice combined.

there is an open mic tuesday but they are charging admission for talent ($10)???

Ive played a lot of these over the past 15 years and never have I seen them charge me to entertain others. I have some instrumental originals I could play but I can't help but think what is the point? I would like to do it, but the experience is not that valuable or novel and I dont know what Id get out of it

andertons are pushing them pretty hard, as is our lord and saviour justin sandercoe.
Andertons do a setup on every guitar sold

Yesterday there was a thread where someone posted a video of some jazz pianist lady who was talking about the importance of being able to play a melody that you hear... just sing what you hear and hunt for the notes, basically. Eventually you'll get better and faster at it as you do it more often.

>andertons are pushing them pretty hard
Of course they are. It's their house brand.

they don't own the brand, they just bought a fuckton of stock

then why'd you bareback and Transylvanian?

No, they own it

How does your mother feel about this?

I've seen them for sale in guitar guitar and PMT too

so is this thread for just discussing the instrument and learning to play and diff types of guitars or like guitar focused music like american primitivism or jazzy shite?

Yes, because they recently bought them. They were around before that.

Is Justin being paid off for eastcoast?

practice with a metronome, start slow, gradually get faster

theres a blurb from justin on the eastcoast page of andertons

This thread is for corresponding with Samuel Campos and Roman.

this...is good to know
>slowly backs out of thread

you can say that about almost any rock/metal song from the past 40 years

Tele: Right now Ernie Ball 10's, probably going heavier for my next set.

Practice slowly while not doing it and gradually speed up. It'll be disheartening at first, but you'll have it sorted in a few weeks.

i wish, probably just the mark V combo if I can find one used for a decent price

Just get an Origin Effects Cali 76 and be done with it. There are a few to choose from; they're all stellar.

How do i learn multitasking guitar and singing at the same time? i already kinda do both but not together. im able to strum and sing simple straight stuff but always find myself stuck when trying different rhythms.

Why that one? It's more than I paid for my amp.

I'm not a /pol/tard, so I don't know what "redpilled" means, but that's the best pedal format compressor you can get.

Compressors do exactly what it says on the tin: they make your signal more tightly packed so that they take up a more clearly defined frequency range. This can be detrimental if you're playing by yourself because you basically lose out on harmonics and overtones, but if you're playing with a band it can really help you stand out in the mix.

I've been here since 2009. Keep /pol/ away from me.

The fuck

respect your ban

Does it look bad if you're fat with a guitar

this is either brilliant bait or the most retarded shit I've ever seen in my life

I’ve been phone posting on this same IP for months, homeboy, I haven’t been banned for anything.

why would it look bad?

Keep /pol/ in /pol/. We have enough retardation in /gg/.

BB King was fat as fuck and was universally beloved. Just don't be cringey

Best guitar player in the world was fat

honestly I still can't tell, but I need to believe this is a shitpost

how do you manage to consistently post these in every thread???

how much is too much for a full maintenance? I got an old washburn and it has a bit of rust, the volume and tone controls make nasty sounds when adjusting, etc. So I'm thinking to take it somewhere so they clean it up and remove rust and whatnot.

i liked your vocaroo face fren

any ideas for shedding triads/arpeggios and incorporating modulation? also trying to get more familiar with melodic and harmonic minor (i know the sounds pretty well but not reliably enough to use consistently in improv)

why do i look like i have parkinsons when i play?

I've realised that i look really fucking stupid and janky when i play guitar and not graceful at all.

Is there any way to fix this because i don't know any one else who plays like that.

vid related is an example

Thanks.

When strumming, you shouldn't use your elbow. Instead, rotate your wrist - like you're turning a key one way and then another.

if that's actually you in the video
guitar is too low to be conducive to good form

looks like you're clenching the fretboard like a baseball bat and using a lot of big movements

ideally you'd want to be making small movements and using the big muscles near the top of your forearm for most of your fretting. The way you're doing it seems like it's more of a grasping motion and then relying on the tendons in your hands to do most of the work

picking hand also looks pretty stiff. Hard to tell exactly what you're hitting because WHAhaahAhAHahahHAHahAhahWHEEeEehwhehwehhWhahaah, but it seems like you're doing the frusc thing where you just find of rely on funk muting to keep strings from ringing while using a wider pick motion. This is fine occasionally but I wouldn't lean on it as your main way of playing.

Your overall picking technique kind of looks like you're tensing up your arm and making a jerking motion. I won't get in to the whole "playing from the wrist vs. playing from the elbow" thing because I think it's up to the player to find what works for them, but regardless you should be going for a more relaxed fluid motion. Tensing up when you play is more conducive to injury and you will not be able to play as fast compared to if you were relaxed.

in review
-raise your strap height, you shouldn't be reaching down for your guitar
-fret from your upper forearm, not by clenching your hand and relying on your tendons to do the heavy lifting
-working on being less tense/more relaxed when playing and you'll be twice as good in a few months
-didn't mention this before but practice with a clean tone if you're not. practicing with high gain or that wah tone will limit what you're hearing and restrict your melodic ideas

That's exactly wrong

Cool, thanks.

Not really.
>like you're turning a key
...I would say like turning a door knob.

Thank you user! I wish I could here your playing so I could give better advice. Woodshed your triad formulas while learning a piece that excersizes it. When you say incorporating modulation, do you mean modal playing?

Is it worth £60 for talkingbass beginner material or are the free videos alone enough?

Forgot pic :(

Yes, definitely. Also more taxing on the fingers.

absolutely based paragraph thanks for the full response.

yeah my entire picking style is really the *muting everything except the string(s) i'm playing kinda deal* atleast for the style of music i'm playing here. When i'm sitting down i play alot softer and more 'precise' in terms of the right hand, but i think thats down to the music i like to play and practice at home. and yes I play very clean when i'm practising, vid related was just one moment of a jam where i wanted to go for that frusc kinda waheeewoo texture.

That being said, i hit very hard with my right arm, that jam in the vid was about 12 minutes, I started with a fresh orange tortex and by the end it had melted to pretty much 1/3 of its original length. Is the way I tense on my right arm and the fact that i play 'hard' linked, or is it just coincidence?

thanks for the rest of the advice btw user

do you have any video of you sitting down and playing?

Give me 5 mins or so

Oh look a bunch of posts that are absolute trash made by people nobody cares about.

just report him for using an avatar and ignore him

Ill put it to you like this, at that price I'm sure you could get a second hand one for pennies and resell it for the same price if you didnt like it.

Try the EHX Soul Food pedal. It preserves much of the Tele's bite while fattening the sound up and allowing you to dial in everything from a little dirt to full blown distortion. Not all that expensive, either.

>soul food
>not owning an original klon centaur

Attached: download.jpg (275x183, 7K)

I don't want a drive pedal. I like my amp's distortion.

That's exactly the point. No reason to spend that kind of money. Didn't an original one recently sell for $4k? Fuck that noise. The Soul Food sounds fantastic(particularly on a Tele) and doesn't even cost $100.

>shelling out extra shekels on a meme pedal
nah bitch

Attached: 1550913962053.png (703x704, 567K)

You can use it clean if you like and it will just thicken your sound. It's voiced beautifully. Turns Tele Bridge pickup from country to rock.

yeah i'm just meme'ing with ya user.

I can understand $4k for an amp or guitar or outboard in a studio, but for a pedal thats fucking stupid.

I have a tumnus and archer and they both do the job more than good enough

agile guitars any good?

You could any of the following:
-be a professional musician
-have a decent job
-play in a coverband
-have the financial responsibility to own your own gear and merch
-pick up a part time job instead of shitposting

THE POWER IS YOURS

>-be a professional musician (and live with your parents)
>-have a decent job (and be shit at music)
>-play in a coverband (and live with your parents)
>-have the financial responsibility to own your own gear and merch (and be shit at music)
>-pick up a part time job instead of shitposting (and live with your parents)

that's the thing that gets me, see. if you have a good job and lots of gigs, what are you doing on an Armenian embroidery forum?

Attached: 1535148768873.png (112x112, 9K)

kek no one in gg does any of that
highly accurate
hey no thinking allowed pal

any anons have experience with installing vintage style tuners into modern stratocaster necks? Gonna need to drill some pilot holes and line that bitch up to get them on properly

Sorry it took me long, but if you're here:
