It was 86. Cliff died, Dave Mustaine's influence wore out, Kirk threw out everything he learned from Satriani and neglected his Rhoads and Malmsteen influences, James was getting older and was gradually damaging his voice hitting those high screams (blowout didn't happen until later but the damage was being done), Lars was definitely never equipped to handle the workload but Cliff's death led to "MUH SOLIDARITY" between the surviving members and he cemented his position. It makes perfect sense that Justice was a mess and they changed their sound because they couldn't do that anymore
