Will we ever see an instrument that dominates the music industry like the guitar ever again? Is it going to be synth from here on out?

insruments are not relevant anymore, it's all about the composition itself now
*AHEM* Will we ever see an instrument that dominates the music industry like the guitar AND the drums ever again?
drums are stupid all you do is bang shit
It would be neat if lutes came back into fashion.
Guitars are stupid all you do is pluck strings
Needs more pantyhose

Guitar was good because it can do a lot of sounds and be played easily and loudly for pretty cheap.
Hot take: I loved synth a lot more when it had a very distinct sound (see: intro to Mr.Crowley) instead of being an instrument that copycats the sound of other instruments.
It's time has come.
bass renaissance bay bee
There's nothing quite like it, pretty much no other iinstrument offers the same combination of portability and range of expression.
>Is it going to be synth from here on out?
is most modern electronic music even made with synths? is that a dumb question?
Synths were somewhat unique like that until the release and huge success of synths like the Korg M1. (1988) They already used FM synths and stuff to fake other instruments (like Yamaha DX7, 1983) but i think they sounded fake enough to be perceived as a synth.
Interestingly we have to go back in time even more to get to more original and synth sounding like stuff. (like back into the 60s for modular stuff and their little children small monosynths like the Minimoog)
Thankfully nowadays we have the biggest selection of analog synths of all time, we have all kinds of sick stuff going on in the Eurorack and DIY synth world and basically by now companies rereleased all the famous analog synths in one way or other. (reissue or clone)
Is there any sensible reason a guitar should cost this much?

guitar was the main popular instrument in the USA at the time that recording technology became available and a record industry was born. because of that, guitar music (blues, folk, etc) penetrated and took off all over the world by people being inspired by those recordings (btw classical was still going strong through this as well). for this reason though, guitar is almost welded to the entire base of contemporary popular music since at least the 1920s. everything changes and evolves, but the fact is for centuries people listened to the music that originated near them geographically, and then by ~1920 and certainly by the 1930s cylinders and records were sold all over the world and aside from the well known classical favourites it was guitar music.

Guitars are for normies that wanna impress girls. Bass will always be superior.
Drums and bass are more important. The more I think about it, it's not even close really, and you kind of imply that yourself.
