Martial Barrage - Murus Strictus
You're welcome.
this is the precise moment grindcore started getting good
Horrified by Repulsion was released before it, though
yep
It only insults fat girls and feminists. Which one are you?
Has anyone else of the Swiss thrash band Excruciation before? Their EP is pretty good and this photo of them is peak thrash aesthetics
youtube.com
underrated ozzy album desu
Tourist here, rec me some shit similar to Limbonic Art.
>implying I didn't already know Martial Barrage
What do you take me for? A hippie?
did you miss the part where they glorified "all heterosexual rapists"?
Isn't that how you reproduce though?
Looking forward to Pissgrave and Triumvir Foul off the top of my head, the Void Terror LP would be sweet if it actually happens.
idiot
darling, let me mansplain this to you: the purpose of the band is to shock people, they probably don't mean most of it

holy fuckin cringe.
not sure why people focus on genres as a whole rather than individual bands. sure slam is a bit gay but effigy of the forgotten is a good take on it
effigy is not slam you mong
it's weird watching a 55 year old man in jorts have a seizure on a stage
here have some actual good slam
youtube.com
>here have some actual good slam
did you forget to post it?
is there spanish metal with spanish guitar?
>enjoying or partaking in edgy shock shit past your teenage years
Imagine being so much of a man hold loser that you have to hide behind being that obnoxious lmao. It’s cuz of shit like this that metal turned into a joke of a genre.
t. nu male
thread is fuckin aids, thanks Yea Forums
>did you forget to post it?
There’s some really cool bits hidden underneath the distortion in Hvis Lysett Tar Oss and Filosofem. But they are under such a mountain of distortion that they are far less audible, and actually makes the music lose depth because it’s still more texturally dull overall than what’s actually being played would imply otherwise.
Also Edge Of Sanity should’ve made Crimson into separate bits instead of one long track. The way some of the riffs are composed with both a low end part and a lead melody coming together to create a whole greater than the sum of its parts is very creative. But then there’s some absolutely mediocre generic death metal tier riffs like the one that starts the song.
>genre of music enjoyed by mostly people on the young end of the sites age demographic
>surprised that it’s general has some of the most immature and pointless shitposting on it
Really? Also, I don’t think it helps that the genre hasn’t had anything fresh and new happen in it for quite a while.
I never said I enjoyed it.
And that's not why metal is a joke. Metal is a joke because it's cringy edgelord music for people seeking escapism. Not all though, but a huge chunk of it is.
/meal/ is fine, its faggots from the rest of Yea Forums that come in here and smell like soimilk that is the problem.
its ok album
Nightfall > Ancient Dreams > rest (havent listened to others)
THRASH TILL DEATH
but theyre commies
very based concept
stop drinking soimilk then and youll stop smelling it everywhere
Man that was good, I've only skimmed thru eos. I liked this album.
queued, i keep finding out new shit thanks to /meal/, thanks
WHY CAN'T I PLAY TREMOLO RIFFS CONSISTENTLY AAAAAAAARRGHH
How come retro-thrash bands don't write song like this?
youtu.be
keep practicing at lower bpm to build proper muscle memory, build your way up, youll get there, dont give up like a pussy
You mean why arent retro thrash bands more melodic?
EOS entire discography is based early albums are more early deathmetal but by the their mid to late albums are gold
im always impressed when i hear bands from 90s and earlier, and they manage to get better sound than some guys nowadays
I mean why can't they write anything that isn't generic shit.
Enigma is good i would reccomend just listening to their "when all is said" album its just like a greatest hits sort of thing
Some of my favorites by them are
youtu.be
What is your favorite Sigh album?
Yeah i cant really put my finger but 90s metal was a very interesting time lot of good stuff came out then that i feel kinda flew under the radar
Alright boys, I came back from my vacation and I made a resolution to get into black metal.
I already like some stuff here and there, but never went deep.
Can someone recommend me a band that is similar in production to this? Preferably with a less faggy name too
youtu.be
Try emperor - ix equilibrium, very good entry band for black metal (speaking from autopsy)
also mayhem - esoteric warfare and barshasketh - self titled
Infidel Art. Great atmosphere on that album.
Thank you
I only listened to Hangman's Hymn so far, my queue is very big but i'm gonna explore rest of their discography eventually
epic
but where is meloblack
I'll pick it up again tomorrow, I've been doing it for hours.
I won't give up though. Thanks.
More melodic metal always makes for more interesting riffs.
In thrash, I would take prime Metallica, Megadeth, Artillery, Slayer (on SNM/HTC), Metal Church, Sodom (Agent Orange) over Slayer (other albums), Demolition Hammer, Sodom (ITSE/Persecution era), Golem, etc.
In death metal, I would take later Death, Atheist, Gorguts, Edge Of Sanity, Dismember over earlier Death, Suffocation, Cryptopsy, and really the entire slam sub genre.
In black metal I would take the entire Norwegian scene over the entire Blasphemy rip off set of bands or even crap like Marduk.
Melody’s always been a part of metal music since the days of Sabbath (the riffy part of War Pigs is very melodic and catchy.) Blunt aggression wasn’t a hint until the punk rock influences came through. Aggression is fun at first, but gets boring eventually. Good riff writing is a much greater feat to pull off, and also go make some lifts if you wanna actually feel badass instead of boring blunt riffs.
with tremolo you'll be able to finally blast some proper fucking black metal through your amp, or some nice prog bridge, always got to have the goal in sight
im practicing vocals for 10 years now, in the beginning i sounded like a whiny fag but i said to myself i dont give a fuck, im just gonna
keep on doing it since voice is muscle, if i do it for long enough my body will learn
and now im grade A hell demon growling my brain out
kill self fagot
>one copy of anything by Napalm death please
I love Burzum, but I see your point. There's a lot of alternative recordings and acoustic covers on youtube. I leanred to play some of those on guitar, it's really nice.
Did you learn to do the vocals by yourself and experimenting? I tried watching videos about it but it didn't really help, my throat gets itchy when I try and they say you should stop if you feel weird.
t.
got any examples for the burzum bits? been thinking about putting those albums back into my rotation
Posting the only album that matters.
i literally done it through trial and error, i irritated my throat so many times to the point where i couldnt make chords for weeks
I just sang along to my favorite songs and like after 4-5 years i learned how to make my own sound
instead of trying to imitate people i sing along to
screaming will always irritate chords and throat to some degree, the trick is to find a harshest sound you can make without dying after 40 mintues of rehearsing
it should come from stomach mostly, you can practice stomach (diaphragm) breathing by just laying on your back with something put on top of your stomach and trying to lift the object with your stomach through breathing
this is generic stuff that most vocalists will tell you though
also, taking breaks is important, overscreaming or oversinging can lead to injury
I was having the tint interlude sections between each major riff and the second to last structured riff in Det som engang var in mind from Hvis Lysett Agar Oss. There’s a subtle second guitar on both parts that sound really cool, but are drowned by the main bit.
In like the last three minutes of Dunkelheit in Filosofem, a new riff part comes along. Varg played it in his video where he showed how to play the song as well. It doesn’t have overload of fuzz so it sounds so much nicer when he’s playing it clean in the video or when I am doing that’s on my guitar. Also the last time when it goes back to the verse riff there’s an areggiation of the chord as well being played alongside it. Also the songs on this album seem to have multitudes of guitar tracks in them that are recorded side by side, something else I wish he went further with (note how the guitars fade out at the end of Dunkelheit.)
youtube.com
anything after the first 2 albums played live is cringe, especially his voice. But the drums and riffs are pretty cool.
We get it, you're a pleb who only likes conventionally melodic music. Go tell someone else.
tfw you realize this is just rock music
You just discovered that?
Do you think papa Varg is happy with how many dungeon synth artists cover his tracks?
I'm pretty sure a few years ago in a vlog he said he's glad his music has inspired better musicians than him to play, so I'm assuming that extends to covers.

why are you surprised that the Nazis would be sexist lmao. they want you back in the kitchen making aryan babies. Not to be talking or thinking, your future in their world is to just be a slave to men and raise their children so that they can be warriors for the state (if they’re boys) or also be sex slaves to men (if they’re women). That’s literally it. You gotta be a fucking retard to be surprised that they’ll be mean to women.
practice more you twat
Ancient's second album, sort of.
hmm, all RYM trannies type exactly like you do
>knowing how RYM trannies type like
you're a sad little man aren't you?
they/you infest all shoutboxes of releases that have something "offensive" about them
So this RIFFS, but...
What exactly makes it grindcore rather than death metal? The fast tempos?
It's deathgrind, so it's got chunks of death metal in it. The grind comes from the fast aggressive punky riffing and drumming
I never got into hair metal but I think I'm in the mood for it. Where do I start? Which bands do I go to and which do I avoid?
>rapists hate women
Go to the wiki page and listen through all the bands there and form your own opinion.
They still suck ass even with /pol/ memes.
no
Then fuck off.
Listen to Skid Row's debut and Shout at the Devil by Motley Crue.
>'97

dont bother, he wants to be spoonfed like a little
mommy's boy he is
Dokken and Stryper, their early stuff. Then you can just listen to the popular stuff really, Twisted Sister, Def Leppard, W.A.S.P, etc.
They dropped their debut album in 2016. They are nothing more than Municipal Waste pizza thrash for neckbeards.
>They dropped their debut album in 2016
with no change to their attitude/content from the late 90s
Any charts with best of 2018?
Except suddenly hating punk music despite playing crossover thrash. Their early material consisted of punk covers, which is fucking gay. At least S.O.D. was funny and had good riffs.
>but but they were friends with Seth
>but but The Mentors
It was literally recorded 12 years prior.
No, because this general died and most of what was considered the best were a handful of albums a couple of people brought up because most either don't explore new shit or just listen to it through what they see gets posted here.
don't change the subject, you said "/pol/ memes" trying to imply something completely backwards
the genre change is irrelevant
That's even worse. They had 12 years to realize that they fucking suck and released it anyways.
If it didn't contain /pol/ memes, you wouldn't care about it. Nice Reddit spacing.
commit suicide
>stuff that literally predates /pol/ and the entrie Yea Forums is "/pol/ memes"

That sucks
Is there a list at least or something you could recommend
/pol/shit is still /pol/shit no matter which one predated the other. The only reason you're infatuated with this band and post it every hour of the day is because of the lyrics.
Gallows Gallery
I'd recommend Rapture, Abigor, Maze, Krieg, Oxygen Destroyed, that one album I can't remember but that almost everyone brought up and Shakma.
Gallows Gallery or Infidel Art, can't decide.
nothing wrong with /pol/shit, dear comrade
The album I can't seem to have remembered is the latest Ritual Necromansy release.
this is what all metal should be judged against

I actually really don't hate blackgaze, I think there's tons of good examples of the stuff out there, but it's _not_ metal. If you want to listen to something that RIFFS you don't put on some angsty singing in a wall of sound with a tremolo picked guitar turned down as low as can be, you're just straight up wrong.
it's not out yet literally anywhere
>but it's _not_ metal
it is just not good most of the times
it's up on their bandcamp and says "released February 15, 2019"
the link has one song available and no way to purchase the album
SO SHE SAID WHAT'S THE PROBLEM BABY
WHATS THE PROBLEM I DON'T KNOW WELL BABY I'M IN LOVE
THINK ABOUT IT EVERY TIME I THINK ABOUT IT CAN'T STOP THINKING BOUT IT
What's some good heavy/power/doom metal with a more technical/eccentric edge to it? I really like stuff like pic related, Confessor, Cauldron Born, certain Manilla Road records, just stuff that isn't full on tech-wank but there's a clearly off-kilter feel to the songwriting and musicianship.
>black gays
Why do you guys say black metal is soi?
I'm not too familiar with it because I always preferred death and thrash but Burzum and Mayhem are cool. Are the other black metal bands gay or something? I heard terrible things about Deafheaven but that seems to be a crossover band so not representative of the genre
A tourist, desu. Great thing you already knew them. The blast beats in this song in particular is spectacular.

Yeah, everyone here knows 99% of metalfags are pure cringe and plebs as well. What's your point?
I prefer jhoff personally. Even if they can get cheesy at times.
This is some stupid tryhard shit, I didn't know people still make stuff like this on youtube. It's like a time machine to 2009.
>go on his channel

Maybe if I was 16 I would like this guy but the only impression I get is never wanting to see this dork again.
goniloc is also great although he never uploads
>Even if they can get cheesy at times.
That channel hasn't been good since the first couple of how to be x metal vocalist, out of which the thrash one is great and I still watch it from time to time.
Yeah I like him. I discovered him a couple days ago from his history of doom video
why are there no melo death bands that even come close to Insomnium? I can't think of any other genre where there is such an insurmountable disparity between the top artist and everything else.
based
based
whoops posted twice fuck
One of my favorite typos ever is the version of this album with Dying Victims listed as Drying Victims. Up there with Fallen Angle of Doom.
You brought up the release date of their album, and claimed an attitude change since their 90's releases. As though to suggest any change was insincere and to pander to modern crowds. When the reality couldn't be further from the truth, since the album was recorded shortly after the 90's releases. So any changes were made around the time. Then when this is pointed out, you resort to
>but it still sucks, /pol/ is stupid
Like a fucking child who can't even began to argue a point

I've been seeing a lot of new releases in this genre of the past couple of years

youtube.com
If anything, recent years feel like the decade of death doom
It's not a faithful representation of what happened, don't go into it expecting a historical retelling. It's like 3 movies in 1, the first act is like a funny montage of the bands early career, then it turns into a drama for a while, and the last act is a suspenseful thriller.
Any boomers around? Did metal kids act like complete retarded edgelords during the 80s and 90s?

This is what quintessential solidly done grind core sounds like. It’s far more hardcore than it is metal. People who shit on grind here don’t know what grind actually is. I think the /pol/shitters do this because some of these grind guys have very left leaning views so they are subtly trying to make everyone hate grind bands here although if somebody says they hate right wing band cuz of their politics, they throw a shitfit.
GHOULS
see
great but objectively worse than Leprosy
>t. faggot who doesn't like riffs
protec the churc
bitches aint shit
Nah it’s not any more or less rock than any other metal. Maiden, Priest and Sabbath had similar riffs. Vocal and drum technique similar to extreme metal bands. Closest thing in the rock realm to this stuff is like certain prog melodies or some of the fills done by guitar virtuoso types or the most recent late 2000s/early2010s pop punk style. But even contextually it works closest to a band like Maiden with the riff further elaborated in the way death metal tends to do.
Ultimately, that shallow way you try to make something be considered metal only fits a small set of thrash, OSDM, and black metal bands. There’s a lot more to metal, and it’s worth giving credit to the genre for its ability to artistically express in so many different ways.
is the tongue a dick?
I never noticed that
What is some of the best drumming you've ever heard in a song?
For me: youtu.be
>this thread
Nah, I like actually unconventional efforts in metal like the previously mentioned Gorguts who are among the few truly atonal examples in metal (a band like Deathspell Omega for example would be more jazzy but mistaken for being atonal.)
Most of the generic dull band types are either writing riffs:
1. In a minor scale along with a flat 2nd and a flat 5th to get muh mean sound, root note always the open note on the lowest string
2. Chromatically but never going past the first handful of frets, root note always the open note on the lowest string
Being that formulaic is what has ultimately hurt the genre. There are some guys like Suffocation that used to do fancy stuff, but even their tone makes it sound like a bunch of farts. This dull bullshit that elitist losers try to push in metal is actually metal’s equivalent of buttrock.
Fucking BASED album
stop posting faggot
It’s always these guys thinking they listen to the heaviest aggressive shit but they are usually either skinny fat insecure guys or fat as fuck insecure guys masking their masculinity by trying to “feel” masculine by listening to music rather than just having a good time. Of course, to be truly masculine one needs to like exercise, have sex, actually socialize with people. But it’s much easier to pretend that you’re the manliest person by listening to some dull garbage like Altars Of Madness or Speedboozer or Vulgar Display Of Power.
I fucking love Martin Lopez especially on My Arms, Your Hearse
Also Hellhammer of Mayhem is amazing. He perfected blastbeats.
the fucks the death metal in insect warfare? you dumb?

There are so many of these fucking videos, what a lazy format. At least these guys are smart for taking advantage of retarded metalfags.
Here's his links of him covering songs from a Deathcore band with a heavy melodic death metal influence (one of them being his most watched video):

youtube.com
Here's instances of him covering Fleshgod Apocalypse (a death metal band with heavy melodic/symphonic influences):
youtube.com
youtube.com
youtube.com
He's got way too many Origin covers for me to post here. Origin is a tech death band known for having super technical melodies and wild drummers.
Here's him covering a Decapitated song (a band known for their flashy technical melodies)
youtube.com
He's not insecure about his masculinity unlike you losers. The dude likes what he likes. It's the flashier interesting riffs that got him popular to begin with as nobody was expecting such technical skill from a dude like him, and it's what he seems to mostly post/enjoy as well.
you mean taking advantage of the tourist
THE HOLY PRIEST
nah, heinous songs have always had 1 word in them lol
it slaps pretty hard though
The only reason no one likes jerking off over melodic shit is because it's easy for anyone to get into it. It takes more effort to get more out of Gorguts 2nd album then there 3rd or 4th which in the end is a more rewarding listen. There is nothing wrong with having doses of melodic shit. It's just that people just stick to that shit because it's easier to listen too instead of venturing further into metal like Trad.

That Gorguts example makes zero sense as their approach on a song by song level far more versatile on Obscura than on EOS so it would take more effort to get the most out of Obscura as the listener has to change their mindset slightly in regards to expectation on a track by track basis. I love both records, but this comparison doesn't make sense. There's just a lot more to Obscura than anything else they have done.
For the typical death metal fan, I would argue EOS is far easier to digest just because it sticks in the realms of more conventional death metal relative to what came afterwards.
Just because something is immediately enjoyed by more non-metal fans as well doesn't make a case for accessibility throughout. For example, I don't think many typical metal fans know how to pace their listening experience when listening to Deafheaven's Sunbather, but certain fans of other musical styles may have an easier time with this.
I'm very open to them using more non-gurgles but they'd sound a lot better if they interchanged instead of being primarily the highs.
