This is one of the first albums I owned when I was younger. I think it set an unrealistic expectation for future albums I listened to.

It's what an album is supposed to be--just a very solid set of well crafted songs that are musically interesting and performed well. It's amazing how many albums fail that criteria

Just here to say that Radiohead is awesome and Coldplay stopped being good a long time ago. X&Y was good, but doesn't approach the nuance and excellence of an album like In Rainbows, Kid A or OK Computer. This album you've mentioned isn't much better or worse than X&Y.

Radiohead are masters of texture and reinvention. They draw from such a rich palette of synths, arrangements. Your boys in Coldplay are good with the same 3 instruments that everyone uses all the time and offer solid, but not excellent ALTERNATIVE ROCK.

old Coldplay is fine but that's just nonsense

Parachutes, AROBTTH and to a lesser extent X&Y are solid, middle-weight rock albums that are often overlooked because people tend to only hear the syrupy hits like the Scientist and Fix You, which are utter shit. Frankly I don't see why they are always compared to Radiohead, it's like comparing Journey to Led Zeppelin. There's noting in Coldplay's catalog that can compare to OK Computer or Kid A but that doesn't mean they are shitty. The title track to AROBTTH is one of my favorite songs.
