To say he’s “only” relevant in rap music I think is an understatement because he introduced a completely new style that was very different at the time, people hated him at first but grew to accept it for what it is when others started imitating. He’s one of the big reasons why you can sing as a rapper and don’t have to be sad or introspective. It can just be apart of your flow and melody and tone can be apart of rap lyrics. rap music is pop music and his influence stretches far beyond rap music as other genres incoirporate rap style instrumentals and use his style as a baseline.

He is able to keep the energy common in Trap music while adding melody by contorting his voice, which gives an energetic rhythm to his vocals while also giving ways to interesting melodic components. A lot tried to copy his approach(Gunna, Lil Durk, etc...) it seems, but not everyone do it as well as him.
