yeah, i started wading into lesser-known glam bands, and found john sykes. he has an amazing voice, pretty decent at songwriting, and was able to recruit a talented drummer and bassist. it seems like it was just at the wrong place at the wrong time i.e. end of the 80s.

You had a lot of bands who covered specific areas and sounded different from other ones, but because it's been labelled as "hair metal" it's just all garbage and all the same to the average person with a fleeting interest in rock music

Schenker is through and through the greatest guitar player imo. There's guys who probably have the technical shit better, but for my money, not a single one of them can withhold their ability for the sake of making a song better artistically like Schenker. Such a melodic player.
Also, Strangers in the Night is the greatest live album, and possibly my favorite record of all time
People dismissing glam metal is the greatest mistake of all time. The same ones that do will unironically praise trap. Few will address this problem.

I don't really hate black metal as much as I hate its fans, it's just not my thing. I never liked the whole punk rock nature of it all....trying to sound "raw" doesn't appeal to me, out of all the major metal genres it's my least favorite and my favorite artists from it are the ones BM fans hate for being over produced lol. But what I really hate is the attitude most black metal fans have.

I mean we've kind of had that in a way with the whole visual kei thing in Japan where they took the image and applied it to any number of genres, but it's just not the same. Glam metal to me needs to come from feel good hard rock and glam rock, which were never about being super intellectual or anything just about good sounding music that gets your fist in the air and your toes tappin'
