what is the best residents album, bros

Okay, you're gonna get a ton of different responses based on that as they've made so many. However, the general consensus tends to be that their earliest works are best and they got worse as they went on. (My personal favorite is Mush-Room, but that's kinda a weird "obscure" pick as far as Residents albums go). The ones I hear the most are Not Available and Duck Stab/Buster and Glenn
Here are what seem to be the essential Residents releases (not all of these are albums) you definitely should listen to
>Santa Dog
>Meet the Residents
>Satisfaction
>Third Reich 'n' Roll
>Duck Stab/Buster and Glenn
>Not Available
>Eskimo
>The Commercial Album
>Whatever Happened to Vileness Fats?
>The Mole Trilogy (Mark of the Mole, The Tunes of Two Cities, The Big Bubble)
>God In Three Persons
>Cube-E
>Demons Dance Alone
Here's a good list of everything they've ever done with little explanations

They can be, they’re a very hit or miss band. They’ve made some of the best and some of the worst music I’ve ever heard

>us maple
Storm & stress could be to your liking, maybe
I approve of this list

duck stab/ buster and glen is their peak. imo only thing worth your time after mark of the mole is their cd-rom stuff

Their Cube-E Elvis covers were pretty good, but their King and Eye album wasn’t very good

gingerbread man and wormwood should be up there

thinking fellers. check out the rest of Al Johnson’s projects like shorty and mount Shasta’s. also cheer-accident if you like prog. It’s sort of like canterbury with alt rock aesthetic

I actually really love The King and Eye album. It takes those songs to places I never imagined they could go.

>The only thing worth your time after mark of the mole is the cd-rom stuff
>what is Demons Dance Alone, Animal Lover, Tweedles, Intruders, Ghost of Hope, Coochie Brake, and Mush-Room

what are some really interesting genre fusions you guys love? I’m a sucker for anything canterbury-infused. anyone have any recs?

Nico I think, more than any of the rest of them.

Once upon a time avant garde had an aspect of intellectualism about it but now it just means black eyeliner.
