Woul you agree that this album has great production but shitty lyrics?
Woul you agree that this album has great production but shitty lyrics?
I'd agree it has two good songs
It has nice instrumentals, but I've listened to it a couple times and it doesn't really have catchy lyrics or melodies. A little too "out there" I guess, and the songs are similar sounding enough to cause listener fatigue
I don't regret this blind purchase but I'm not feeling it so far.
Which ones would you say those are?
Little Dark Age and When You Die, rest range from flat-out mediocre to boring. At least those are the ones I actually remembered.
When You're Small is a really bad song. Those are nursery level lyrics
Yeah and of course, they're in the beginning of the album. It just gets worse from there I would say
It's a classic pop format. Throw your effort in first so critics think the entire album must be great, when in reality it's a 3/10
yeh, after the first 4 songs the album fall hard
this but the last song is good
It's pretty disappointing because someone told me this album is great
everytime i get to that song were it sound like ariel pink's voice i drop it
it's only one male singer, right?
Any recent (2018 or newer) rock or pop albums you'd recommend that are actually good cover to cover? I'm looking to both add music to my tastes, and add some stuff to my physical collection.
It is ariel pink's voice you fucking mongoloid
wait it actually is, I knew he was helping out on the record but still, whole record gives me an ariel kinda vibe anyways. Not thats that's bad or only ariel does it
I for one thought that MGMT did a good job on LDA, yeah it's not anything that's too groundbreaking but it does a good job of affirming what quality pop should sound like in 2019
yeh I think its solid and has some strong singles i just think the album drags
the second half is definitely weaker than the first
it's good in a live setting where all their best material is performed together
nothing on this album is as good as Electric Feel. They kinda seem like a 1 trick pony
has streaming completely killed the art of making a good album?
have you ever heard Congratulations?
no, is it worth listening to?
LDA I blindly purchased but I'll just stream their other ones due to my disappointment
agree on those being the highlights of the album, despite When You Die being an Ariel Pink rip-off
The entire album is an Ariel rip-off
Congratulations is MGMT at their creative peak imo
again that song was co-written by ariel, it's can't be a rip-off if he's on the record
>it's can't be a rip-off if he's on the record
says who?
No, it has great production and great lyrics. The only thing is that I'm not down with the scene anymore. I am too uncool to be a member of their fans. I'll probably enjoy it more in a few years retrospectively (When the dust has settled).
what a gay post
fucking heathens
how does one rip off one's self
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I'm all sperged out for the forseable future.
If you value music for its lyrics then you're not really listening to music, you just want something to sing along to, fuck off.
Good lyrics can add a lot of value to a song, sing along value isn’t the only reason to have good lyrics
It's an ingredient of good music. Why would you disagree with that?
the album is great but why did they bring in yoni wolf to replace the band's lead singer on track 6?
TSLAMP is the best song on the album though
She Works Out Too Much & Me and Michael
it's ok, but not really catchy enough to be a 10/10 pop album
not sure why so many people absolutely love it
hmmmmm yeah.....
its a 10
I GRIEVE IN STEREO
have you heard Future Islands Singles?
I'd recommend that one, good cover to cover
Me and Michael is pretty great
my bad, you said 2018 and newer, missed that part
yeah I got nothing
agreed and based
>caring about the lyrics
lol
