Music and Drugs

ITT we share our experiences regarding the changes of music reception after the consumption of drugs.

Its NOT about how music has a similiar effect on the human brain than drugs do. Its about the changed reception of music. Please dont forget to mention the drug you used.

I´ll start:

Smoke some weed. Afterwards I dont want to listen to Rap/Metal, but I like to listen to classical music or video game soundtracks. My reception changes from a analytic perspective (which chord progression, which structure does the piece have) to a more joyfull/emotional reception. Also the music goes more in the center of my attention. Normally music sometimes becomes just like an underling layer of attention. Like a soundtrack of what you are doing right now, but not the primary thing you are doing right now.

I have a hard time listening to hypnagogic pop and vaporwave after years of DXM abuse.

Also this song popped up in my worktime shuffle recently and I swear to god I must have heard it in a DJ set while greening out once because it gave me the willies:

i like that i can hear the individual layers of the music better when i'm high. it kinda "unlocks" parts of the music that i have never paid much attention to when i'm sober. and when i sober up i can still hear the sound i "unlocked" while high

music is good

when i take amphetamines i think my own music is actually good

dude i once like took like drugs and the music was like 4d man like what the fuck damn that was hella trippy u feel me? law of attraction shit man heavy stuff *hits juul attached bong*

I never liked/understood madvilliany until i got really high and listened to it.

Do you consider porn to be a drug?

Because listening to Trap music while watching hardcore porn is very, very, very, very good.

You're just listening to the music less intently. Aaron Copland once described in a book 3 differently planes in which you listen - sensuous, expressive, and sheerly musical. You pretty much covered all 3 in your post, basically just sensing the music, feeling the music, and analyzing the music.

What is there to understand except "lol look I rhyme a lot of syllables to say incoherent stuffs lmao"

whose gon get 5s

last year i did 200mg of MDMA and when i listened to Space Song by Beach House I came, which is weird because im a tranny and my dick shouldn't work

I have listened to music under the influence of everything, there's this place called the DaRk wEb which is like the car trunk in fear and loathing in las vegas except a million times bigger and everything's really cheap and pure compared to buying off street dealers and the mailman just delivers all this stuff to your door and you take it.

In all my substance experiences the most transcendental of all of them was when I drank 5 cans of monster (not the sugar-free version) and listened Aphex Twin's selected ambient works 1 for the first time. I have never and will never top the feeling of euphoria I got. The stars aligned perfectly, it may have been a multitude of factors but the caffeine and sugar hit my receptors in time with the music perfectly.

Nothing compares to that experience and there's nothing you can't access with the internet short of fresh harvested adrenochrome which probably isn't that good because all the politicians who take it keep getting upset and losing.

Basically I can confirm that megadosing crack 'n' sip is the ultimate but you have to risk a heart attack, I wouldn't recommend trying unless you have some halcion on hand, definitely not if you're fat or have heart issues.

Thanks for this information, im going to have a look at this book! Do you know its name?

Currently listening to Madvillain. Thanks fo the tip

Most cliche answer possible but, I never really got BoC until I became a stoner for a while. Then got way into it. Still appreciate it now even though I haven't been a stoner for a long time. Drugs can open up a new perspective that you retain long after having done them.

I can listen to anything stoned but I usually put on lo-fi indie stuff
Ket generally makes me want to hear electronic music, like Autechre or maybe some ketty techno wobblers
Coke I either wanna hear punk or synthpop
MDMA depends on which stage we're at, if I'm coming up, electronic pop or dance music, coming down I like folk or post-rock
Acid depends on the mood but generally cosmic shit, funk and jazz

>tripping balls on acid
>put on some Bach
>oh shit
>thick ass counterpoint with 4-6-voice fugues
>what the fuck am I hearing
>what is music
>what is life
>hnnn

Autechre and LSD. I had only really listened to their early stuff, when I put on Reniform Puls on 300ug the interlocking microrhythms clicked and I never heard anything the same way ever again.

Listening to Spacemen 3's Sound of Confusion loudly drunk has been more fun than listening to any other music on drugs.

doing LSD this weekend and will give that a go
I'm usually more of an Amber or Anti EP kind of person

What to Listen for in Music

Trips of truth. Ae with psychs will permanently alter the way you hear.

As far as enjoyment and transcendence though, Close to the Edge is the one for me.

don't get me wrong those are great albums to listen to in a bit of a state, but the whacked out effects and wonky angles of their later stuff pairs so well with psychs. it's like solving an audio puzzle with the unconscious language processing parts of your brain

When I first started smoking weed, music felt different. It was like I was in a different world and that the rhythms and beats were actually flowing through my body.

Now that I've smoked my fair share it doesn't have the same effect, but I always get into the groove of things much more easily while stoned.

Music on Shrooms was fucking weird dude, I can't remember how it made me feel but I can remember visualizing different things depending on the song and genre. Listened to some trip hop, saw mist running down my walls, listened to cloud rap, saw a bunch of friendly neon bugs.

Now acid is just amazing. It's cliche but I listened to Tool on acid and was completely transported to a different place in space and time. I could have sworn I saw pic related, but I can't say for sure.

anyway, drugs and music go together like PB&J

>When I first started smoking weed, music felt different. It was like I was in a different world and that the rhythms and beats were actually flowing through my body.
I fucking miss this
pot used to be amazing
now it makes me feel slow and like a retard
if I try hard enough tho I feel like it allows me to focus enough and get into the "zone"

i used to listen to soundcloud/"mumble" rap, mostly Glo Gang members and affiliates, while tripping hard on DXM playing black ops 3

i swear DXM made me better, i used to get 25 kills 0 deaths in free for all using just the knife

then i started drinking actual codeine/promethazine lean and listened to chopped and screwed remixes of newer rap, as well as the original tapes of DJ Screw and such.

i didnt fully understand how accurate it was until i did it. its crazy how DJ screw managed to sonically portray a physiological sensation so accurately.

but now im sober and against the use of drugs, it's not good to play with your health and sanity. plus you can do irreversible damage to your brain, you dont wanna be stupid, do you?

>now im sober and against the use of drugs, it's not good to play with your health and sanity. plus you can do irreversible damage to your brain, you dont wanna be stupid, do you?
Hmm sounds like you shouldn’t be the one to judge whether other people do drugs or not considering you did enough constantly to wreck at a video game while you were on it (also the fact that you unironically drank lean). Smart people do harder drugs on more spaced out intervals to avoid addiction or brain damage and do better things than just playing video games on them

>trying this hard to justify his drug use
lol junkies amirite

Lmao if anything you were the junkie, drinking lean n doing dxm. Retard

>tfw ynw experience geometric visuals and sensory hallucinations on weed ever again
I don't even smoke very often. maybe once every 3 months. sucks that it doesn't happen to me anymore. music was so much fun to listen to, from Pink Floyd to dubstep

I’m jelly you ever got em in the first place solely on weed, only time that happens for me is if I take at least 2 tabs of acid

Eh, it had its pros and cons. I would never use weed socially, especially when I had those effects. I just want to be alone and enjoy the high while it lasts.

May sound typical, but listening to dub music while stoned is extraordinary. All the reverberations and snare patterns and rumbling bass lines become amplified in every good way.

I hated Merriweather Post Pavilion, tried LSD and then loved it

>2 tabs
what μg dosage?

Maybe 100? I’m not really sure, I always buy from my friend so the dosage has always seemed the same

200μg seems like a decent dose so it makes sense

Yea, and I mean do get a little bit of visuals on 1 tab, but it’s just stuff wiggling and faint outlines of patterns. But on 2 tabs it’s extremely prominent, like I could easily draw the patterns I am seeing if the thing I was drawing didn’t move itself lol

Here's a story:

PART I
>be me
>go to punk concert
>in the pit
>a girl is grinding on me
>she's objectively probably about an 8 but she's the type of girl that to me is a 10 (black bangs, short, cute face, alt-girl aesthetic)
>figure it's accidental since this is a mosh pit
>forget about her (kind of)
PART II
>3-4 months later
>go to chill psych rock concert
>eat an edible
>normally a good dose but I don't feel anything
>decide to eat one more
>reasonably high
>go to concert as the first band starts playing
>guesswhosthere.jpeg
>she's giving me looks constantly
>at this point I realise that the dose was way higher than I expected
>I don't pay attention to her or return the eye contact because I was so focused on the music
at this point I need to mention that edibles have a very psychedelic effect on me
PART III
>I can see the photons in the room vibrating
>the music is creating lights and colors
>the vocalist is breathing white energy through his face (not just his mouth)
>I am in the forest with the ancient elves that play magical instruments that no one but them can hear
>I can see white light every time the drum kick is hit
>too high to care about the girl at this point
>she's so fucking cute but at that point I felt like I was a part of something greater
>1st band plays their last song
PART IV
>2nd band comes in
>they are more energetic
>the visuals are sharper and more intense
>after about 2 songs I notice that the girl is not there anymore but I really don't care
>I bump on someone behind me
>I was dancing/ moving since the begining of the concert and I knew that no one was behind me
>don't turn around because I don't care
>middle of their 3rd song
>a hand touches me on the back
>I don't care
>a hand touches me on the back again
>I don't care
>song ends
>a hand touches me on the back again and I hear "emm excuse me" by a very warm female voice
>guess who

Attached: img213.jpg (2825x1400, 437K)

PART V
>yup
>intense dark red lips and nails
>her bangs are perfectly curved above her face
>her amazingly beautiful face is divided by white lines that seamlessly rearrange themselves as she talks
>"do you play in a band?"
>cliche asf
>"no, who did you think I was?"
>"some guy"
>yeah suure
>"anyway, what's your name?"
>"I am user"
>go for a handshake
>her friend first (yeah she actually brought her friend)
>"I am somegirlname"
>then her
>"I am (in my language) Peace"
>fuck me dude
>her dark red nails were too intense
>smalltalk.psd
>normally autistic but the universe is telling me exactly what to say
>good vibes (I think)
>next song is about to start
>asking for her number didn't even cross my mind since at that moment I could only see star-dust and colored waves
>next song starts
>I am being overwhelmed by everything and I wanna hear the next song so I kindly end the conversation
PART VI
>I am completely lost in the music once again
>I know that what just happened is a good thing but I don't pay that thought any mind
>it's like I was meditating
>I felt 0 urge to talk to her after the song ended
>I felt 0 urge to do anything
>at that moment I was happy (in a way that a noble gas is happy)
>vibrating star-dust
>the concert ends
>don't see her again
AFTERMATH
I will 100% see her again. I have promised myself that I will talk to her since I felt like kind of an asshole for kind of ignoring her.
Meeting her was nice but it's not what stands out about the experience the most. Since that concert my perspective has changed. I have had the experience that someone normally has on LSD and I feel blessed because of that. I feel more connected to everyone around me. Music sounds much more meaningful since then and I wanna make/ play music 24/7. This was definitely the trippiest experience of my life and I hope the girl is not a letdown

Continue plz

Lol glad you had a good time user, sounds like a lot of fun. You’ll probably see the grill again and you both can laugh at how stoned you were
