Post your thoughts on the last album you listened to, then how you would whip this board into shape if you were in charge.

apostrophe by Zappa, it was pretty solid
I would make containment threads for Kpop, Rap (hiphop is not the same),and Metal. Then everything else is free reign.
Implement a voting system where if a thread gets 10 votes it is automatically deleted. Votes could be placed if the post is boring, doesn't provoke quality discussion, is unrelated to music (aside from massaposter), or if a genre from a containment thread is posted outside of their thread.
tour de france by kraftwerk, their definitve masterpiece and one of the best electronic albums ever produced.
ban discussion of women and niggers
>>>/reddit/
Hot Dreams by Timber Timbre. I was looking for some folksy alt country type of stuff and it fit pretty much what I was looking for. The more subdued tracks are definitely the best ones on there.
A Top 40 general and hip hop general should be enforced, with mods corralling all the threads in the catalog into those generals. Last FM threads, sharethreads, and other threads that encourage discovering music should be kept up too. Threads with Pepes and Wojaks as the OP pic should be deleted on sight. And this isn't really something that moderation will stop but for fuck's sake people on here really need to stop falling for bait so easily.
Swan Songs by Hollywood Undead
Although it may be edgy I still enjoy it.
I would split mu into two boards one for rock and one for hip-hop seeing as most of the threads dedicated to each just have people who listen to teh other genre shitting on the other genre
Mazzy Star - Seasons of Your Day
It’s a very nice album. Ive always thought of Mazzy Star as more “Dream-Blues” rather than “Dream-Pop”, and I think this album proves it.
We need to be nicer to each other on a regular basis. This board culture used to demand respect to elders (although not necessarily Tripfags), but these young people are very ignorant nowadays and don’t have any respect.
Yeah the board has become a lot of insulting in general. I understand that people have different music tastes and may think that what you listen to is trash but the very least they can do is explain why
It’s aleays been an insulting, insecure board. That’s never changed.
The problem lies with taste. We have unironic 69, XXXtentacion, Clairo, and Billie Eilish shilling. We never did that with Drake, Chance, Joey, Odd Future, Kendrick, J. Cole, Wiz Khalifa, MAC Milar, etc. We just let the fads die back then. When they released something good (which was rare) we would celebrate by meming and whatever, but still, that was deserved.
Yeah I also feel like genuinely good artists get shit on a lot as well without good reason
Pic related
Kinda blows my mind that this came out a few years before krautrock even really started
I would instaban all kpop posters, make a honeypot thread for all 69, kanye, or whatever pop/poprap is the current flavor of the week and permaban anyone who posts in that thread, and disable tripcodes
The Kpop fags are unironically one of the better behaved groups on here though. They keep to themselves and stick to just their general, which is a LOT more than what could be said about the Top 40 waifu posters and the 6ix9ine/XXX fags. I'd imagine trying to bother them would be like poking a wasp's nest with a stick.
I mean kpop posters literally never leave there thread but I don’t see why they can’t pack up and move to another board when they literally do not care about even kpop music
The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Are You Experienced
It was much better than I remember on the first listen. Maybe it was because I had a higher quality copy.
It seems against the spirit of free musical discussion to banish genres into containment threads by rule. Also, distinguishing "rap" from "hiphop" would be difficult in practice and lead to a lot of problems.
The voter based system is ripe for abuse. The number of votes would need to be increased or, preferably, the system not implemented.
Women and black people, while their status is overblown by the culture dominating the music industry, have made many works of music considered to be integral to music as it is, and it would severely limit discussion to ban anything related to these two demographics.
I love "500 miles". Its almost like no other song needs to be written, its all right there.
As ever, "on topic" is all thats required but so rarely found. Too many repetitive waifu threads that add nothing. /pol/ shit needs to be purged with fire. I'd be up for genre generals being more of a thing.
bump
>the exciting wilson pickett
Land of 1000 dances and In the midnight hour are classics, and the inbetween songs really keep it together imo. For on a 30 minute album it does a lot, and it has aged relatively well imo. A solid 7/10, and if you like the transition era between rock to funk and soul, this might be higher on your list.
I'd whip Yea Forums into shape by requiring every chart poster to have something besides Yea Forumscore and edgy/unique/obscure albums. Lets talk about music we like, not music we're supposed to like or music that is somehow elevated by it being unlistenable recreationally. Difficult and challenging music has its place but not every album should be a challenge
a promise by xiu xiu
sounds SO much better than i remember, im even considering it as a top 10 for me. can't stop relistening
containment thread for hip hop
Having a blast with pic related. I love listening to high energy, goofy, and fun music and OB never disappoints.
>how you would whip this board into shape if you were in charge
Fewer Kpop threads.
Iron Maiden - The Number of the beast. pretty good but I like s/t and powerslave more. Hallowed is thy name is massively overrated
I'd give it the Yea Forums treatment and split the board. Yea Forums continues being the garbage dump it currently is, and /mug/ where only generals are allowed is the actually good place. Unfortunately Yea Forums is a slow board and most generals last almost a day, so /mug/ would be more dead than /po/ or /n/
yikes
>Shaking the Habitual
Their best album and one of my favorite albums that takes an experimental edge to popular music
Tweez
I would enforce mandatory Fripp posting.
Fugazi- End Hits
My favorite Fugazi album. Most of the songs groove very well, and the ones that aren’t groove focused safe attention grabbing experiments of guitar noise and effects. This album proves why Fugazi had one of the best rhythm sections ever in rock.
If I were in charge of Yea Forums I would ban chart threads. The same albums keel showing up over and over again and keep getting praised by anons responding with plus signs and shit. I think having your own chart, especially a huge one like a top 100, and sharing it is kinda narcissistic and it looks like that person is desperate for validation
Kraftwerk - Trans Europe Express
This is the first Kraftwerk album I've listened to. It was a cool album, but I feel like a lot of the songs overstayed their welcome. It was my first listen to it, so that opinion could change down the line.
Anybody acting anti-kpop is a retard. They almost never leak out of their thread, so they aren't a problem.
If there were a better way to figure out the age of posters and ban those under 18, the quality of the board would be 100x better, but it's unlikely there's a good way to do that.
Instead, the mods should try caring more about the board and banning duplicate threads and obvious shitposts/bait/pol threads, as this is probably where most of the underage are, and it's against the rules. Why do porn and pol threads stay up longer than threads with actual discussion going on? I feel like people rarely get banned from Yea Forums, and that's the biggest problem here, because they'll keep shitting up the board unless they get banned.
Colma by Buckethead
I would actively delete ironic zoomer shill threads and waifufag threads (clairo, that green haired guy, 6ix9ine, etc.). then id try pushing for discussion of lesser discussed genres like sea shanties, country, anything other than rap metal rock and pop really but discussion of those is of course fine. Oh also if i could id make a better chart maker website cause topsters2 can be a bit fucky
George Harrison - All things must pass
I was just thinking god damn I love the Beatles and everything they done
I would fix Yea Forums by just posting those stupid bait threads and banning all the faggots that clearly don’t see it as bait with their reddit behavior
shut up incel
You are exactly the problem of the board. You can’t see through the shitposting and take everything as literal. Even if he really meant it and was a nasty person, you don’t have the foresight to leave him ignored and forgotten. Instead you just rally him on to say more “vile” shit perpetuating this cycle of faggotry
user please don't tell me that you think that guy is being genuine with that post. Take your own advice.
You’d be very surprised
I saw the thread on here where that was posted too, man. It's still very obvious that all these posts where people emulate stan Twitter mannerisms and whatnot are complete bait and people still fall for them hook, line, and sinker. And even in the slight chance that they weren't, what good would come out of actually interacting with them in any shape or form?
>Velocity:Design:Comfort by Sweet Trip
It was pretty good. Definitely one of the more notable albums I have listened to.
I would ban kpop trash and meme rap
topsters2 isnt bad at all
If the album isn't how you want it you can literally put the picture and info in yourself
Vaudeville Villain
Probably one of my favorite works to come from DOOM. The album has such a rich atmosphere and personality that it really makes it feel like I'm peering into a comic book cityscape. Viktor is also a very well-defined character, that he's clearly distinguished from songs released under the DOOM name. Classic album.
I'd delete this board desu
River City Wizard by Greaf. Decent instrumental cloud rap mixtape. It has a very strong aesthetic to it, but that doesn't compensate for the lack luster songs. Sometimes it feels very dreamy and unique, and sometimes it just feels amateurish. Decent enough I guess, a few great standout tracks, but very lacking overall.
>delete obvious baits, except when the discussion they promote is interesting enough
>small ban for anyone who falls for these baits
>delete any threads that encourages the breaking of anonymity, except soundcloud/bamdcamp threads
>no more than 2 threads about the same subject at the same time, and special reinforcement of this when it comes to meme rap
>delete blatant poptimistic threads
>ban waifuposting
>ban any poster who even resembles a female
All this shit should be default operation, but our mods are too busy on the kpo p generals.
please we need this, how could this be implemented?
pan electric & ishq - about time
how the fuck does someone be in charge of a board on Yea Forums
I guess the better way to word it was "if you had things your way," I didn't mean literally in charge
>I would instaban all kpop posters, make a honeypot thread for all 69, kanye, or whatever pop/poprap is the current flavor of the week and permaban anyone who posts in that thread, and disable tripcodes
>containment thread for hip hop
>I would actively delete ironic zoomer shill threads and waifufag threads (clairo, that green haired guy, 6ix9ine, etc.)
>>ban any poster who even resembles a female
all of this!
Cherubs- Heroin Man
Ban anyone that talks about Yea Forumscore
this kills the emo
La Peste - Drug Store Core Boy
Who would've thought that hardcore electronic could be accessible and good at the same time? Could do without the background drones though.
Stop racebaiters, ban waifu posters, force kpg to merge with /trash/'s, ban anyone trying to dodge filters
oh silly me i forgot to add my thoughts on buckethead! was great, havent listened to all of his stuff ( i mean, who has?) but so far colma hasnt been topped in his discography. although pike 65 and giant robot are close. its a very peaceful album
The World's Best American Band - White Reaper
It was great fun though a little top heavy
I don't give a shit about this board
Just listened to Black Saint and the Sinner Lady and was still blown away, Jazz will never get better than this album
>Create a K-Pop containment board and the entire board is better
>More daily genre threads and sticky a recommendation thread, or a music general board with this stuff
>Bring back massaposter
>Also probably bring back Tay-tay poster
>No more stupid complaint threads allowed, if your criticism isn't based on anything it gets fucking nuked
>Shitty meemee threads get insta-fucked—if it's not funny, it's gome
Playboi Carti s/t, it's really ambient in a way
Unironically this, but create a pop board too. Post-2016 Yea Forums is way too disjointed and it's just shitflinging between three factions.
>Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti - Lover Boy
My favorite Ariel Pink record and I'm addicted to "She's My Girl".
As for Yea Forums, I'm seeing a lot of "ban K-pop", but it at the very least has its own general and I really think all hip-hop and rap garbage together should have one so there aren't ten hip-hop threads in the catalog. Discourage lazy posting and eliminate Yea Forums-core or scale it down entirely. No one should be grinding out the same twenty albums just to make identical posts about them here. Permaban all art-hoe posters and make bugposter a mod.
Jay Munly and the Lee Lewis Harlots self titled
Move the KPOP general to /int/
Curtis by Curtis Mayfield. My favourite soul album, so damn groovy and funky.
Move kpop to elsewhere and ban any possible mentions of idols or whatever. I'd love to see some generals come back, like jazz and dark
Panda Bear - Buoys
I really enjoyed it and don't understand why it's getting so much flak
a containment board for kpop, banning of permanent tripcodes, harsher enforcement of the avatarfagging/signaturefagging restriction
how could you possibly be this wrong
>Implement a voting system where if a thread gets 10 votes it is automatically deleted.
you have to go back
>tfw have a top 500 list
I am an attention whore though lol
>they'll keep shitting up the board unless they get banned.
I guess you've never been on Yea Forums
rateyourmusic.com
Some pretty good pieces, all passable pieces, but nothing really jumps out, and I'm not sure solo cello is really something I care about
The board is fine
What;s so bad about metal?
Also,
>Implement a voting system where if a thread gets 10 votes it is automatically deleted. Votes could be placed if the post is boring, doesn't provoke quality discussion, is unrelated to music (aside from massaposter), or if a genre from a containment thread is posted outside of their thread.
If this happened it would be abused so much and so easily
Skid Row - Slave To The Grind. What a great rocking album.
I would make it so rock and metal is encouraged and everything else is discouraged. All modern pop boy music has to go in one thread, this includes all rap artists post 09 in debut, all pop artists including indie pop, and all electronic artists, and all artists who become typical waifufag fodder like Paramore.
>Skid Row - Slave To The Grind
patrician taste. "slave to the grind" is my absolute favorite song form skidrow.
>I would make it so rock and metal is encouraged and everything else is discouraged.
I agree. this retro kids only listen to depressing music from the 90s emo scene, they need some more beautiful and uplifting things in their life. maybe even some punk to get the angst out.
One of my favorite albums of all time, seriously a pop masterpiece
Mossenek - Sublingual Glossectum, guaranteed you haven't heard of it, trippy heavy noise rock, large soundscapes, really good stuff.
I would hang 10 kilo weights on the mods balls and take them off only when they do their fucking job, the board is constantly shit up with obvious bait, pol baits, waifu posting, shit that is CLEARLY unrelated to music, duplicate threads, porn threads etc. etc. but if you slap on a MFTF on top the mods become too rarted to do anything about it. Honestly, the mods? Straight up fucking mental retards. Do your jobs for once.
The Money Store by Death Grips. been jumping between all their discography and all of AJJ's discography too. I wouldn't change anything on this board, I'm a newfag here, a visiting fa/tg/uy. I'll just lurk
>Death Grips.
>I'm newfag, I'll just lurk
>Death Grips.
LURK MORE!
your funeral my trial, by nick cave, essential nick cave listening imho, Sad waters is among his best songs and the carny is terrifying in a good way.
i would track down kpop thread regulars and torture them
JonatanLeandoer127 - Nectar
didn't break new ground, it had a solid set of bangers, his voice fit right into the general mood of the album.
honestly it was mediocre , but i have a large enough boner for him to keep it on my rotation. heres hoping for Stranger 2.0 since the quality of some of his songs off of this and Poison Ivy hit that lonely aesthetic i adore, especially since the production is leagues above most mainstream artists and lean is trying his best to write good lyrics (though its been so long its about time someone took him off the drugs and shoved a crash course in poetry in his face)
Forest Swords - Engravings
Very ominous and good to zone out to. It's almost like neofolk idm.
A death grips containment thread and a chart containment thread would be good.
Neutral Milk Hotel - On Avery Island
I don't really know how to make better this shithole honestly, maybe just ban off topic threads
this.
Worship and tribute -- glassjaw
Very interesring lyrics and 70% of the songs are really good. I don't really care about the screams, but doesn't bother me that much. Some songs makes me feel very nostalgic, maybe because the structure and Palumbo's goofy voice. Overall good album.
I know there's some memery between death grips, this board, and memethony kektano but I'm guessing it's super newfaggy since finding death grips is what led me to TND and then eventually to here. I'll solely lurk from now on though, just stopping in to say hi
>When The Pawn by Fiona Apple
Fucking incredible, and still one of my favorites. One of the few albums I’d rate 10/10
>How would you change the board?
Tighter moderation, KPOP gets its own board, political threads get instant perma ban, waifufags get instant permaban, repetitive discussion gets insta (temporary) ban, threads with only vague relation to music and are obviously meant to inspire off topic discussion get instant permaban. Shitposting is allowed, but it should fall in line with music, and shouldn’t violate anything above, celebrity (not music) discussion gets instant permaban.
Also, way more public bans. Those are fucking hillarious
Wowie zowee. Best pavement album.
Also, only thing wrong with this board is just this decade of music. Nothing good since 2013
I listened to Xiu Xiu new album (not very familiar with this band).
I thought it was interesting but way too unplesant (and not because it was clever or anything. Just unpleasant.)
>way more public bans
Those are only funny if the mods are otherwise doing their job right with the board. I've been on boards where pretty much every off-topic thread was kept up but mods would do a public ban here and there for shits and giggles like that automatically got rid of all the problems with the board.
Sinead O Connor - Gospel Oak
A pretty wholesome record, though it shines better as individual songs rather as a whole album (its an EP)
I would ban flavor of the month shills and race/genderbaiters
Ladytron - Gravity The Seducer
I first listened to this a couple of times when it was released but thought it was a step down from their other work, it felt very washed out and boring, the lead single Ace of Hz just sounded like an offcut from any of their other albums.
Well for whatever reason I decided to give it another try and I have found it to be better listening than the rest of their work, as some other reviewer stated it sounds like you're just looking out of an airplane watching things from afar, and once you realise that this is their intended style for the album you have to come to accept their artistic vision more and immerse yourself in it.
I've found the tone of the album to be redolent of gothic grandeur, the feel of it is evocative of haute couture, Gustav Fabergé's jewellery, Russian palaces, Debauve & Gallais chocolate, Eyes Wide Shut style secret orgies, burning incense and old spy films. I like how the vocals are laced through the music and there's no "electro clash" sounds, you can tell that Ladytron knew what they were doing with this style when they started dressing differently, they simply started being classy. Eat some nice chocolate when you listen to it and pour yourself a glass of Cognac.
And as for what I'd do here with Yea Forums, I've been here since 2006 and I've no problems with it, great board, probably better than it's ever been although I'd like to see people discuss lesser known music more, despite my post being about the much spammed and subsequently resented Ladytron.
Reminder anyone who thinks segregating the board in any way would improve a slow board is a complete retard
Even Kpop Generals do more good than harm since the virgins lurk around
>Implement a voting system where if a thread gets 10 votes it is automatically deleted. Votes could be placed if the post is boring
the internet shouldnt be a democracy you fucking idiot it should be held like a constitutional dictatorship or monarchy like the system we have now.
also i finally listened to mazzenine by massive attack after seeing the album cover on here for a couple years, its pretty good, lots of replay value
>ban racial slurs
>ban politi-bait threads
>ban waifuposters
solved our problems, the janitors are fucking useless and are incompetant
>A voting system on any website, let alone Yea Forums
I’m sure that’s gonna turn out JUST fine
>probably better than it's ever been
What would you say was the worst time?
Rain Dogs by Tom Waits
finally clicked for me, love the dark new york as a storybook quality to it. Where do I go next with his work?
also more popular recommendation chart threads would be nice, get this board back into finding new music instead of focusing on the newest shill in the industry, noone gives a shit about k pop, ariana grande, or billy ellish, even if your just baiting with them its lowering the quality of the board.
Oingo Boingo is one of my favorite bands, nice to see more Yea Forumstards finding out about them
cringe and blupilled, besides the part about waifu posters
