Began as an April Fool's joke in 2013 because /pol/'s boogeyman of the day was the subreddit r/shitredditsays, so moot made a board called Shit Yea Forums Says as Yea Forums's own version of that, and since Yea Forums is just a fun place, nobody really took it seriously and it became a massive shitposting board for the day. moot never deleted the board and for the first few months it existed it was unlisted, and anyone that remembered it existed could come visit. There was a lot of odd abstract shitposting and intense amounts of spam. Namefigging culture took off, as most of the humor was very ironic in nature. The board was so good at a certain point that moot listed it, and that's when it started going to shit. However it took a few years to get to the abysmal state we're currently in.
