Yes and no. If the landlord likes u they most likely won’t. They do that if 1. They don’t think u are the best tenant. Or 2. The market prices have increased so much they think they could charge more even if u left. Depends on how great of a spot u have, the economy, and if the landlord favours u.

For properties with a lot of apartments, those owned by bigger companies (real estate), it is pretty standard.
Smaller ones, or 1/2 house with the owner acting as landlord, it's very rare.

If you live in a state like Washington State, where the minimum wage goes up every year, then the prices of everything else go up accordingly and your landlord, just like you, needs more money to survive and has to raise your rent.
It's called inflation and it's only purpose is to lift up uneducated low wage workers who never worked hard to the same level of hard working educated people by keeping their wages stagnant.
It's the basis for Communism, everyone is equal. The doctor who studied for 8 grueling years gets paid the same as the high school dropout.
Inevitably, you end up with no more doctors or middle class. Just the extremely wealthy and the extremely poor. The country inevitably crashes in upon itself, millions (possibly billions today) die, and the system eventually resets itself after people have had enough and start throwing all the idiot commies from helicopters.
This is why anyone who supports Bernie Sanders is a fucking moron that knows nothing about history or how things work, because the only education they received was an $80,000 degree from a university where every class is taught by Jews that hate all non Jews and want to destroy your society so they can take ownership of everything and turn it's people into a slave class. They've done this countless times throughout history, but those portions of history are excluded from Jewish run universities (all US universities) conveniently.

yes op this is a stand are practice unless you have secured something in writing confirming otherwise. Pro tip, put in maintenance requests 1.5 month before moving out. This should include repainting and patching. You can prove that work was done “recently” therefore any attempt to charge you would be unreasonable because you can argue that it was done before moving. Ideally, you should in the last 1.5 month have the place throughly scrubbed down and everything packed.. literally live out of a suitcase and sleep on bed/floor with sleeping bag
