I wake up, sad. I get up and start doing shit, I'm not longer sad. I get home from work and sit down for 1 hour, I'm sad. I get up and cook some dinner, I'm no longer sad. I go to bed and wake up, sad again. Why is it like this?

No more depression here. Got my shit straightened out, stopped drinking like a raging, on regular meds now and I learned to cope with life without being an emotional frustrated little bitch. Life is bretty gud

Cut alcohol/weed out / limit 1x week.
take 5000mg Vitamin D daily.
Cut out sugary beverages / soda
Cardio 30 mins 3 x week
Stop eating processed shit / cook for yourself
Meditate 10min daily

Do these and you will feel much better. If this does not work, consider therapy / prescription anti-depressants. I would also recommend the audio book The Power of Now; its super out there but has actual actionable advice inside it.

30 minutes of daily sunlight may be enough vitamin D if you walk at noon in at certain climates, but you are risking unnecessary sun exposure if you aren't wearing sunscreen.

We adults are talking about depression. Many people experience Seasonal Affective Disorder which is generally thought to be caused by a lack of sunlight in winter. A very common treatment for Seasonal Affective Disorder is Vitamin D.
Many people cannot get outdoors enough during the brief periods of intense sunlight that exist in their climate.
Getting outdoors could be helpful if you can. But Vitamin D is very cheap, easy and is shown to counteract signs of seasonal depression.
