Neither of you seem like you understand the population effects of a new flu-like virus that doesn't have a vaccine.
Infants, elderly, and immunocompromised individuals will have greater morbidity and mortality if this virus spreads. Additionally, theres no telling whether we can fight this infection or not, and whether people will potentially get re-infected by this.
There are too many unknown variables to make a solid judgement. All we know is that there is no vaccine, and there may be too many patients as a result that our hospital systems/infrastructure will struggle to handle.
Lets just ask our incompetent leadership to nut up and start focusing on delivering proper testing supplies, and get to work on isolating and preparing a vaccine.
