Even if your plane was empty, it would explode upon impact, with a fireball.
You can guide planes and helicopters toward the ground, planes more so, but when you're going straight down with a lot of fuel like kobe was, you'll end up with a fairly large blast.
Also. Often with high speed crashes, you dont even notice the body parts, theres nothing too identifiable.
