first i used as the base two simple osc's
the first one just a simple sine wave
the second one is a sawtooth wave, volume turned way back, as amplitude mod for the first sine

then i gave it a little smooth curve for attack and a slow decay

then to emulate that plucky sound i gave it just a tiny pitch glide on keyhit

now its time for some good 'ol fx
first get reverb on there, a wiiiide rev but not to much decay
little of the dry sound and a lot of rev wetness
allso turn stereo seperation up a little dor the delay in the next step

after the reverb bring in a ping pong delay, cut of the feedbeck to prevent to much bleeding, turn up feedback distortion and modulation to give it a little crunsh

after that simple eq

then put a chorus on that fucker to fill up space
turn the vibrato from one of the voices up to create spookiness

All I can ever do is make a repeating 4 bar loop with some chords.

that is the one point where the computer does nothing for you and it depends a lot on whitch type of music you make
the best advice i can give on that regard is you have to have buildups, the song hase to go somwhere and from where to start and where to go is up to your imagination
it is helpfull to analyze tracks that you like, how do they build up, where do they gather momentum, where do they change and how are the transitions done
